Get a regular bike that actually moves?

recumbent bikes on the road are utterly stupid, you can't see and can't be seen. if you like getting run over by SUVs, that's the bike for you.
at home, who gives a shit? if you got the space and like to slouch while riding a bike, go for recumbent. you can even rest the the cheetos on your belly.

if you are able-bodied and don't have a back problem, get the upright bike. It looks like it takes up less space anyway.
you'd better get an oculus rift too if you're going to go stationary.

I've had both.
Upright for sure. Same as what they use in spinning class. Yes, your nuts will hurt but if you're looking to sweat or do interval training, you can stand up and push yourself to the max (easily) on an upright.
Recumbent if you like sitting down while exercising, and like eating Cheetos at the same time. You can't really go all out on a recumbent (at least it doesn't feel the same because you're not supporting your body weight in some respect). However, if you're injured a recumbent is great (what I originally bought mine for)

Do not get a recumbent stationary bike. It's nearly impossible to get a good workout when you're constantly in lounging position.

I highly recommend this exercise bike off Amazon.
Only $150, light weight & folds up to roll away so perfect for apartment use when you realize you don't use it as much as you thought you would and you're stuck with a giant piece of exercise equipment that you hang dirty clothes on.
Good quality, stable, good price.

There is a saying at the gym.
No one has lost an ounce of weight on a recumbent bike.
On an upright, you can sit, and more importantly stand. It's a much better workout IMO.

Upright, for sure
