- ^ state of modern filmmaking!mugwart
- haha, no, I just have a terrible memory — it was for The Handmaiden and quite fun. Last time before that was Star Wars VIII, I think...detritus

The engineers not being able to defend themselves is bullshit.
And did anyone noticed how there isn't a single female in that planet. They're all dudes.- on that planet*Maaku
- I watched it last night. Those engineers looked different than the Prometheus engineers.thumb_screws
- ^ Bc there was only one in prometheus.CygnusZero4
- There was the dissolving one at the start and the spacejockey one at the end. Maybe they were military engineers in prometheus.thumb_screws
- The ones In covenant didn't have that cold looking white skin. The looked warmer in covenant.thumb_screws
- Better circulation or the warming grading in that flash back scene.thumb_screws

Bill Maher: "Alien movies have to start placing their letters closer together. Is this a movie poster or an eye chart!"

Prometheus felt like some cynical profiteer at Fox or wherever decided enough time had passed to reboot the franchise, so it's full of almost-familiar elements and such, and your expectations are high because you're a fan of the original series, but it sucks anyway.
- I thought the Alien was kinda silly looking too.refunktion

I thought they were going to pick up after prometheus expedition but this is set 10 years after on a different planet and not the "home world".
I was hoping we'd land on the home world

It's got a 76% - Certified Fresh on RottenTomatoes.com. ...pretty surprising actually.
Roger Ebert called it the third best movie in the Aliens cannon.

Saw it at the weekend, I was disappoint!
Should have listened to bad reviews
It's a mess of movie...but like prometheus it looked promising for the first 30-40 minutes then just descended into shit script, action sequences etc etc.

I dont really understand why people have such high expectations for these movies. Is it because the name Alien is so well known for so long? Go back and watch the first 2. All they are is stupid alien horror movies.
Covenant was really no different at all. It was literally the same exact thing as the first 2 movies, so if you like them, youll like this. Same thing with the star wars movies. The original trilogy is basically just some stupid cartoon. Its ridiculous. Made for little kids. If you like that sort of thing, like I do, then what was the problem with the prequels? It was all just stupid sci fi shit to me, and I liked the prequels for that. Had some cool planets, some cool shits.... good enough for me! Because I wasnt expecting anything more than that. Those movies are really well designed. Thats what I like SW for, nothing more.
People seem to build these franchises up over time in their minds and suddenly they make them out to be something they never were in the first place. These are not meant to be the godfather trilogy lmao, or some other intellectually intelligent franchise. Its just dumbass sci fi crap. Covenant delivered that. Sounds to me like those that didnt like it probably just dont really care that much about this kind of movie anymore, so dont watch them?
- Folks get pissy because it doesn't elicit the same magical response the original movies did TWENTY YEARS AGO [see also: Star Wars]Morning_star
- Defending the SW prequels invalidates everything you have to say on the topic of film. Enjoy your garbage.i_monk
- Easy there i_monk, I wasn't defending, just explaining the phenomena. SW prequels are, at best, hollow shells.Morning_star
- I was reacting to CZ4.i_monk

Watched it, was ok, but pretty much the same pattern as previous Alien films. I felt the ending was predictable too. Also, not sure about the current trend with showing trailer footage that is not in the film. There was really no point in James Franco being in the film.

for all it's lame-ass script, Prometheus wins. Convenant was a mess, and sometimes you're left thinking 'what the fuck is going on?'.
How did the Covenant only leave earth in 2015? Where as the Prometheus mission started in 2089? And they managed to 'bump into' David, left over from Prometheus? What luck! That one thing fucked the whole story up for me as it made no sense - from a timeline perspective.
