all i kno is i want to hear why the talk and the project was halted, plenty of reasons surely but nerds like him have a burning desire to share their ideas, so something brick wallish must have step into his path.
i've watched plenty of defcon talks re waaaaaay more sensitive topics and also talks where the speakers' demo was not ready in time, but they showed up anyway cause it's still cool. and worked out just fine. so what had this fella bailing and destroying his open source project is curious to say the least.

- hmmm nah. he's a open source nerd with something cool to show off. then it's wiped clean. he would have sold all his units at defcon and then some.prophetone

possibly an NSL which would be a bit of an overreaction to say the least. i really hope that's not the case, but time will tell...

HAM radio doesn't allow coded transmission. This project probably broke a bunch of FCC laws covering civilian use of the HAM radio spectrum

hmmm.... monnom is probably spot on if it violated fcc rules due to its encrypted signal... and possibly the use of a directional antenna to illegally 'boost' the signal.
- It seems that the device also disguised the signal to make it undistinguishable, prob has little more secret sauce designed into it I would guess.yurimon
- I think someone would be not happy if this because common place. but it is weird that more sensitive issues prevail at the conference.yurimon
- its going to be slow also, yurimon

It seems from what I read which is vague. My guess would be that what made this device unique would not be the hardware itself but the software.
