Just got someone hit me up to design their website (or fix it up) in a really cheap-o free website creator. Not sure if I should take it & if taking it would create a vibration that I do not take my work or industry seriously. If I take it, what to charge... could use the $ but... :|

If you want a quick website use a WordPress theme or something, don't use Wix
- i want one that looks half sharp thoughcruddlebub

There are a lot of good alternatives out there, depending on what you want to present and who you want to reach.
Only photography? Set up a tumblr and a FB page. Pay $40 per year for a domain and your own e-mail. I can help you if you want.
Portfolio show-off (non-digital, of course): Create a bhance account and pay someone $200 to set up your own CSS.
Just two popular examples of doing it. If you would need something really custom and branded you would already know it!

curddlebub, take the leap and go with squarespace if anything. it's an investment into your work.
people will see that you put in a little extra special care in presenting what it is that you do.
am i wrong?

basically just want to take a bit of a step forward into promoting myself as a photographer, i can do different things so don't want to shoe box myself into owning a wedding photographers site when i can do more than just weddings.
I really am a noob when it comes to websites and have looked into the idea of a facebook page but again it doesn't look very professional.
- Go with Facebook I'd recommend - it will reach locals, you can also spend some dollars (5-10/week) to promote your biz on FB.mekk

Squarespace is good for drag and drop web design. Themes seem pretty solid.

This why website design has become something like the spa massage industry.

Personalyl I'm quite curious about this one—
Made by some quite talented people.
That said, although I dismiss it a little, I've recommended SquareSpace to about 3 people this year already.
(Would be nice to have a range of options to offer - I don't like that SquareSpace stand out.. probably because they sponsor all the fucking podcasts I listen to...)

- What is really amazing is how much money you can apparently make just by putting up a nice looking coming soon site :)ukit2

If you do wedding photography and other forms of photography... you may want 2 websites if there are 2 different audiences....
- i was going to have it so it was open... weddings, baby, family etc. ive also done pics for restaurants and their sites.cruddlebub

i've shot weddings, christenings and the norm...
i've also shot restaurant shots for their websites, so a straight up wedding site isn't what i want, it could be the main drawing point but i dont want to neglect the other things at the same time.
