Real report:
"The Journal's source describes the show, which is reportedly still searching for writers, as a "Game of Thrones for a family audience," with a "humorous, kid-friendly tone." Nintendo is reportedly working closely with the streaming service to ensure fidelity to one of its most popular game series. Netflix and Nintendo have not officially commented on the report."

Would definitely watch.

Netflix is having a good run, so I feel like they can pull it off. But jesus, in my heart I really wonder if there's any way this is good. If it is good I think it'll only resemble the game as far as character names/look and bits of fan service.
The game is essentially one kid running around, alone, in dungeons. The plot only serves to advance the game.

Dangerous waters to tread here. This would be very tough to pull off. Especially on a TV budget.
I always imagined a live action Zelda to almost play out like a live action Princess Mononoke.

Link has no personality (on purpose). Works great in a video game but will be tough to do well on film.

Looking forward to this being garbage.

Im sure this will be so fucking terrible, itll be worth watching just because of that.

Hey! Listen!

Link has a personality, but it's expressed entirely in his deeds. He's brave and courageous and helpful, observant and clever. He's also mischievous, and has no respect for property.

´´got fo the family'´ .... Meh

disagree with inteliboy
Netflix is not just a TV style operation. Just last week "Netflix is raising $1.5 billion in additional long-term debt — up from its original $1 billion target, announced earlier Monday — the proceeds from which the company said it plans to use for content acquisitions and other general purposes, including potential acquisitions."
Check out House of Cards season 2 produced entirely in 4k and Marco Polo which is not as strong story wise but it is a beautiful production in a budget of 90million.
I think they are actually in better hands that in most movie studios

- there's a huge difference between good TV budget... and a budget to bring to life creatures like gorons.inteliboy

This being good will depend heavily on whether or not they use the same music from the games. That set the mood and tone perfectly. If it's new crap, it ain't gonna feel like zelda.

I look forward to accusations of "whitewashing" when caucasian actors are cast.
Because blond/blue eyes are Japanese traits! http://observationdeck.io9.com/w…
- I don't remember a single Japanese character in Zelda.monospaced
- Oh but you see they were all Japanese, and you are a racist for not seeing it. (Some people believe this.)i_monk
- people would consider me racist for not thinking Link and the blonde princess were japanese?monospaced
- CALLES0
oh and i forgot to mention that Netflix is planning expansion to Japan by the end of the year

- jtb260
