Avenir Next. Even the '45 book' printed crisp in full colour (90/45/0/0) at 7pt. Thanks to the fm-screen that was used.

above 6 point pretty much any typeface is fine -- excluding obvious decorative or display fonts. at the smaller sizes avoid fonts with a small x-height. I also avoid serifs at the wee sizes (4 or 5 pt) as they tend to fill -- especially on uncoated or newsprint

I don't have favourites but 9pt is body copy! Most fonts work at small sizes when not too heavy and tracked out a little...
