This is what I think, not that anyone cares...
Redskins:100% racist
Indians: 95% racist
Braves: 30% racist (more so when they used the warrior logo)
Blackhawks: 0% racist
Seminoles: 0% racist (except when they do that stupid chant)

hmmm... there's a nearly all-Navajo High School out here in AZ (public too) that has the 'Redskins' as their name / mascot... ... check the faculty page: http://rmusdhs.ss4.sharpschool.c…
I guess it depends on which Tribe you ask as to whether it's 'appropriate' or not to use their names / likeness / euphemisms as your team brand... some care or don't care as much and for different reasons:

Also, the term 'Redskin' is a Native American Term (Natives used the term 'red' to differentiate themselves from Blacks & Whites)... this guy did a nice write-up on the origination of the term: http://indiancountrytodaymediane…

If it were my team I'd change the name if native Americans were genuinely offended by it....but that would be my choice.
Who the fuck are the patent office to decide these things? Is it a crime to be "disparaging"?...."Niggaz with attitudes" is an accepted trade mark ffs.

wasn't that a mistake made hundreds of years ago?

Where did that Indian People :/ thread go?

@hydro74 Mate, times change. It wasn't that long ago if you were an Aboriginal playing football here in Australia, the crowd would yell out "coon", "Abo" or "boong". The fact it used to be accepted doesn't make it OK to do now.
Of course there's some overreactions and political correctness annoys me at times, but 'Redskins'? If you can't see how that could be deeply offensive to a significant number of people, that's disturbing.

my point is, tomorrow will bring something new. probably kanye-related.

it's true to an extent. people do generally care about things. wherher or not it's easier nowadays is semantics. however as far as social-media-fueled outrage is concerned look no further than kony. i feel like i was the only person on earth to not see that video when it circulated. but man was facebook afire with all sorts of jibber jabber.... then it faded. and now, who the hell is kony?

Now I bring this up in 2014 because, unfortunately, political correctness is making a comeback, and now with the internet, it is easier than ever. In the 90s, you had to at least get off your ass to be in a fake mood of hurt feelings. You needed signs, you needed petitions, you had to feed Al Sharpton. Back then, getting worked up over nothing was a lot of work. And now it seems like all the internet exists to do is point to the latest person who said the wrong thing so the rest of us can feel morally superior. And that's not what the internet is for; that's what college is for.
