this will be interesting because the vote will end up being whose lobby is more powerful. those in comcast's pocket will vote against net neutrality and those in google's will vote for it.
that might seem cynical but absolutely nothing about the american government is done without moneyed interests at hand (at least for the past few administrations).
at some point, ISPs will be considered common carriers, but it took a fuck ton of time for the bells to get broken up and all that to be sorted, and there's too much money to be made / go around for politicians to actually care about what's right.

First i'm hearing of this FCC in the UK, so is this like a new Sopa/Pipa thing?
And with 4G offering decent speeds via mobile wifi routers and "independent" mobile companies like GiffGaff on the scene could there not be independent 4G (or 5G in the future) ISP who could offer more freedom?
