Is there a way to convert a router wi-fi password to a 13 digit hex WEP key?
Without going into the router settings?

PC's are utter shite

- I have a Mac and I can set my router to any style password. Have done this for like 10 yearsmonospaced

you're doing it wrong
- broxybluenose0
Sine - no I'm not.
I've got a router which has a WPA protected wireless network. I've got numerous Mac's which connect fine. But I've got a 'shite PC' I need to connect that that network. That 'shite PC' requires a WEP password.
Not going to change my router network settings to satisfy the requirements of the 'shite PC'.It is possible, done it before, just can't find the convertor I used before.
- no pc requires only wep...
you're holding it wrong broGeorgesII - what's your advice then....broxybluenose
- buy a mac / download https://www.virtualb… /install windows / send me $50
GeorgesII - PCs don't require WEP, it's the router than sends that info to the PC.monospaced

Unless it's a decades old WinXP box that, for reasons I find highly unlikely and unbelievable, precedes WPA security, then you're simply not doing it right.
I don't have a Wireless PC here to check on (I use cables), but if memory serves, you just right-click the wireless driver and select WPA, then enter the password.
Whatever though - it really isn't the PC's fault you don't have a clue what you're doing.
- wrong, it uses WinXPbroxybluenose
- I had WPA set up on an XP box over a decade ago, man.detritus

What are you using to set up the network connection on the PC side, software-wise?
- uses windows XP and in network connections, using a 'task Wizard'broxybluenose
- detritus0
- i think it's the latter, but cheers will see if I can do that. Still hate PC's, horrible things.broxybluenose

isn't WEP the kind that's piss easy for people to crack so you shouldn't use it?
- ernexbcn0
wep is crackable.
- detritus0
Aye, WEPs easily crackable - Christ, even I've accomplished it, about 4 years ago whern I read that it was possible, so downloaded some GPU-hogging, airwave-scanning, crypto-dismembering toolkit to give it a shot here - ey violet.
OP's wanting to use WPA though, XP's apparently not biting.
