If some one sends you code that is just one long run on line, is there any program that can break it up so it's readable and easy to navigate again?

Sublime text + HTML-CSS-JS Prettify

You could ask them for the non minified version, lots of libraries have the read able version and the minified version for faster loading. Spacing out the minified version may not result in much more readable code for various reasons, the variables may all be single characters for example.

Thanks guys, this was a lifesaver. Didn't know the terminology.

yay! Minified code! Lets create TWO files that need to be managed in order to save 200bytes. Yayyyyyyyy!!!!
BIG WHOOP. God what a bunch of over hyped, over complicated un-necessary nonsense. Like most 'code'.
Source: I am a 'developer' lol.
- oh, and dont ever send me a minified version of your js. this is cause for death by firing squad.rabbit
- anyone that's managing minification manually is doing it wronghereswhatidid
- it creates two files. now i need to make sure there are two files. thats more work. then i need to minify. then i need to get the unmin if i dont...rabbit
- un min version like OP if i happen to not. its more work. for what. some dickhead on a smartphone watching youporn. fuck off.rabbit
- fuck off. lol.rabbit
- depends on the site, if you have 1000 hits every minute, 200bytes will sum up a lot of bandwith.uan
- again, no developer should be manually doing the minification. There are shit tons of ways to automatically create themhereswhatidid
- and very rarely will minifying javascript only save you 200 bytes.hereswhatidid

im sorry minified code for taking it out on you. I actually kind of like you. I just get frustrated sometimes with other dev stuff haha

@rabbit — Wrong. Most minified code is generated by a deployment process.
Usually happens in something like Capistrano (ruby) when deploying a Rails app. I do it on multiple apps. Can have a very positive effect on performance, and makes it difficult for others to hijack what you're doing.

I'll also add, if you're not combining + minifying javascript, CSS, and even removing the whitespace from HTML your pages are loading much more slowly than they should.
