I watched season 2 first after 2 episodes of season 1 put me to sleep. I started it again yesterday and finished this morning. Season 1 is incredible. 2 is Hollywood cliche bullshit.

Season 1 is amazing. Maybe one of the best noire series of all time.

I feel like it’s off to a terrific start.

I finished the season finale last night.
I don't know, i just don't know.I felt to me that the 'i've forgotten where i am' at a very critical moment was insultingly weak. I loved that fact that the explanation scene with the one eyed man was heartbreakingly mundane and a triumph.
The deterioration of the human spirit both physically and mentally was dealt with in a really good way. The makeup was great and the cinematography was luxurious. It was no Season 1 but it was streets ahead of season 2.[Deliberately vague for those who get all pissy about spoilers]

Dorff's monologue, pre-bar fight in the finale was one of the funniest, most bad ass moments in recent TV memory.
That smile.

bar fight scene was so good.
what was strange about this season is i was so intrigued with amelia in the first couple episodes while roland seemed like h ewas just there to be the receiver of hays' dialogue. by the end, roland turned out to be the best character in the season - and still drastically under-utilized-while hays and the story of him and amelia didn't really seem worth telling.
this could have been a regular movie (90-120 mins) and still fit in all the plot elements, characters and main scenes. for such a strong initial few episodes, it sure fucked up the landing.

Mahershala Ali was a D1 basketball player for St Marys.

Been a huge fan of Dorff since 'The Power of One'...
so awesome to see him in this, thought he was absolutely amazing.
Mahershala was, incredible as well...just and all around amazing show... i thought it was as good or better than season one...
the friendship between those two was so well acted...- Glad Dorff is getting good work these days. Always liked him. His brother (RIP) had a band, and I used to hang out with his guitarist. Never met him though.DRIFTMONKEY

Was okaaaay IMHO. No where near as good as Season 1, def not as good as Season 2 either. Worth a watch for sure. Ending is kinda meh.
I felt like I was watching The Bucket List meets David Caruso in CSI Miami, except David Caruso is old and black now. Big fan of Mahershala Ali though, he kicks ass in everything.
