Hi guys,
I got a gig to design a store site within two months. Its goal is to be somewhat minimal, responsive, and have an effect for the dropdown menus. It would have a ton of images to manage.
I have no experience with the backend of sites. Would Wordpress be a viable solution that I can manage on my own (in terms of no coding and learning curve)? Or there a better CMS. Also, the client also does not like Squarespace.

WordPress combined with WooCommerce could be a viable option, but I'd start by addressing the core features/functionality that are absolutely essential to your client. From there you may be able to select a system that best meets your needs.

is also another viable option.

- Its a semi small company. Will any of the Shopify brand be on it. What I;m trying to say is this company will need to be on its own and not associated with the Shopify brand.spookykat
- < no - you can remove all Shopify branding but unless you design your own theme it will look like a Shopify site.fadein11

i would find a developer to partner up with because these decisions you make early on can make or break your site and how you want it to look and cunvtion

I'd echo doesnotexists sentiment.
If you're worried about the complexity of coding the site, and you're responsible for delivering a working system you might consider getting some help. It'll be difficult to do on your own with out the ability to do some basic coding.
- Totally agree, thats why if budget does not allow, I'm wondering if I can get this gig and work on a site builder like Wordpress and do it on my own. It might not be the best option but it will keep the business for me.spookykat

Shopify would be the easiest fit methinks

Shopify is good but its a hosted service with limited readymade themes - you can create your own if you have the time budget and inclination to learn their system. I use Shopify for one site and its v.good but not suitable for all.
Wordpress with WooCommerce good option if you need more flexibility and 1000s of theme options to base it on. And Wordpress documentation is great so you will will be able to find reams of info on anything you need to do.
Both are different solutions for different needs but both good.
