Your book is definitely champion, though; in your shoes, I would just try to relax and not think about between now and the start of the year.
Next thing is go back to everywhere you've ever freelanced (provided you have a good relationship with them), and let them know you're available.
With a book like yours, res ipsa loquitur, and I seriously doubt you'll have any trouble getting a better gig.
As for your cunty ex-shop: good riddance to bad rubbish. If they're that callous, be happy you're not working for them anymore.

what is you main area of expertise? retouching I presume? I would focus on that instead of presenting yourself as an art director. Also lose those zooms on rollover. Really don't think they work

Also, call ad agencies and find out who they use. Then call up who they use and pitch yourself for a job.
