Who?

David Tennant and Matt Smith sharing the screen as Dr Who. This is going to be fucking great!
On a side note, the more I watch Tom Hiddleston, the more I think he needs to be a Doctor; he'd be fantastic.

- what? is this before or after matt smith?pango
- Such a shame he never got to do two or three series. I think he would have been great.Wolfboy
- The greatest Doctor that never was!mugwart
- @Pango McGann is the 8th Dr and Matt Smith is the 12th (but this story appear to insert John Hurt into the timeline as the 9th which makes MS 13th)Wolfboy
- timeline as the 9th which now makes Matt Smith 13th)... GEEEK.Wolfboy
- I really enjoyed this. Pity it never went any further with McGann.Continuity
- he has loads of audio books (whos a bigger geek now!!) I agree it would be incredible to has him in a full series. Lets hope there is a spin offmugwart

Wow, Rose and David....
- I'm still really partial to Ecclestone. Smith and Tennat are brilliant, but for some reason, Ecclestone's Doctor really has the edge for me.Continuity

One week!

Not only is it a children's show, it's an awful children's show.
Please, no more.

In a rare and frightening conjunction of events, I find myself in agreement with Set. I've never, ever understood the whole Dr. Who thing.
And I waited in line at midnight to get the DVD (video tape?) of the ORIGINAL BBC/America Dr. Who reëmergence back in the mid-90s.

(I was very stoned and a friend wanted to go and I had nothing better to do - it was shit, all of it).

spent £10 and will be watching the episode in 3d at the local cinema
- Same. Show's at 23.00 GMT +1, though, so I'm going to have to avoid internet spoilers at all costs.Continuity

wish the bbc had renewed "the hour" with capaldi in that instead.

It's almost a great concept, but the execution by the bbc is utterly dire. It's like telly tubbies acting.

I don't like it, but there are enough sane, intelligent people who think it's great, so I'd have been happy to ignore it for now but not rule it for the future. Until the last few days of inane, endless hype. Now the BBC can fuck off down a hole with it.

Don't over-think it; it IS a kids' show so to have your eyes open more than normal, watch it with a kid, preferably of about 11. A smart one. Like mine. It only takes a moment to watch it with the eyes of an 11 year old for the spell to be cast, then - bingo - you're in. You're 11 yourself again, not only is it drama and fantasy and some humor and technology and plot-twisting, but you're a kid again, from that cool time before teenage years. It's a proper family show, don't really expect to enjoy it if you're not a kid or a parent.
- so i have to dumb myself down to 11 years old to enjoy it?scarabin

It's a family show...not a childrens show.
Brilliant acting and storytelling magic...don't be a grinch
The last 5 minutes...with the return of you know who...was in my opinion...the best piece of television I have ever seen....well done moffat!!
- I'll concede the first point, yes :)
And the 2nd. And agree with the 3rd, yes, it was fantastic :)mikotondria3

Best bits:
• The chemistry between Hurt, Tennant and Smith, with their banter
• Reference/tip-of-the-hat to Capt Jack Harkness (missed him in this, too bad) (Side note, the War Doctor borrowed one of Jack's lines, which I thought was cool)
• Billie Piper
• Those five seconds of Peter Fucking Capaldi. Can't wait to see what he'll do with the role.
• You-know-who at the end
• No River Song!So-so bits:
• Clara Oswald was a bit of lame duck, here, and I normally like her. Her role was almost completely inconsequential
• So, hey, how did all of those other ten TARDISes get summoned, anyway, and when?Not-so-good bits:
• Queen E I's casting was horrible. Couldn't stand to watch or listen to her
• No Weeping Angels. I fucking love them, best baddies hands-down. I would have had a few of those on Galifrey zapping out a few Daleks elsewhere in time, to make sure there's a ready explanation in future episodes where there are Daleks. And the Cunt of the Year Award goes to:
Christopher Eccleston, for not being tossed to participate in any of the anniversary events, let alone sacrifice one shooting day for even just a small 10-second bit showing him after the War Doctor's regeneration. Fucking prima donna.
