Great so far - despite having seen so much of the content before - still managed to capture the wonder of the original series. And I like the presenter - nice bloke.

2nd episode wasn't even a little subtle about talking directly to creationists. It dedicated an entire section on the evolution of the complex human eye—often used by creationists as an argument that god exists—and along the way pointed out that evolution happens not to an individual animal, but to the group over time. And in no uncertain terms countered several of the major creationists arguments, one by one. It was like, let's just get this bullshit out of the way so we can continue. I love it.
- But what about consciousness? You can't explain dat.ORAZAL

i caught a rerun of the first episode late last sunday night. really good. and i enjoy tyson. been listening to interviews with him on youtube as well. he called sagan a "great science communicator", or something like that. true. as is tyson. will catch up with what i missed over the weekend.
- oh, and what moldy said ^, but the way they present it, you can't argue with it...sine

"You don't talk about the spherical earth with NASA and then say let's give equal time to the flat-earthers," said Tyson.
- Sure. Sunday morning, can we have equal discussion of evolution, then?ETM

Ep 3 was a bit of a dud compared to the others.

Seems like a bunch of regurgitated shit, that I have seen decades ago.
- Centuries ago even... which is sad. People shouldn't need reminding, but they do.monospaced
- The bit about knowing the names of infamous serial killers but not scientific pioneers struck a chord with me. Until that is reversed, we need the this stuff hammered into our culture.dorkKn1ght

Another "technical glitch" interrupts broadcast of Cosmos on a FOX affiliate (a different one from the last time) during a segment on evolution and prehistoric climate change:
