It should at least say which area / currency - or does it covert to local via exchange rate API?

Everyone is their new iPhone?
I could see how becoming a phone would make some minor updates to onsite seem somewhat trivial.

Any NYC based freelancer product designers here?
Vine are looking (and we don't have that many New Yorkers on there yet).

I signed up. I don't like that it forces you to put a day rate (which I found a workaround).
- Do you refuse to tell agencies your day rate? It's not public beyond jobs you are matched to.sktIII
- No, but them knowing ahead of time reduces my ability to negotiate.cannonball1978

About day rates btw, they are in there in the same way your availability and skills are. Nobody is excluded from a listing based on their cost, we don't want a race to the bottom. And it is never public beyond jobs you are already matched to.
Why force an agency to call / email you before you tell them what you charge? It's a waste of everyone's time.

Completed profile, the UI is great.
A suggestion for "where else can we find you": put the folio / web link first, and change the icon or create a hover to tell them which field they're entering. You currently have to assume via the pre population that it's an external link and the icon is weird.
- Not sure what you mean? Portfolio isn't in the social section. A globe icon is fairly standard for www.sktIII
- Granted, it's a pretty shit globe icon.sktIII
- appreciate the feedback btw, just not sure what you mean.sktIII
- Oh, I figured it out.
There was a social icon I didn't recognise. It looks like winzip.meffid - Ah, Stack Overflow.sktIII

Re the day rate: you disempower people form making quotes based on the job. They expect that rate moving forward.
- This isn't a platform where people bid on jobs. We aren't trying to be ODesk or Freelancer.comsktIII
- I'm not saying bid. I'm saying the way you have it, I have to have the expectation for the same rate set for every potential job.cannonball1978

You also make no indication to what is lacking in the percentage for the profile. A list of what is lacking would help.

when will this be useful
- sktIII0
Not sure I follow. Do you mean the percentage complete indicator when filling out your profile? It's the fields you haven't filled out that are lacking.
- Yo udon't indicate that. Just a bit of UI feedback. Make the lacking fields red or something.cannonball1978
- They go red on error. And you get a tick on valid. If it's empty it's empty. Not sure how much clearer it can be.sktIII
- Right, they go red on error. I'm talkign about the percentage. At 94% I had to noodle around to figure out how to get to 100% with no instructioncannonball1978

If the agency is interested in you, then they'll make contact directly. There's nothing to say that discussion wont lead to negotiation on price. And in my experience, a day rate will leave you better off than a fixed-fee - it's usually the client pushing for fixed - not me.

Made a few changes yesterday. If you have an activation code, but haven't yet completed a profile, you can still have a look at the jobs posted (and if you like the look of them, complete your profile and state your interest).
- Who the fuck cares, everyone is their new iPhone, carry on.utopian
- cannonball19780
You are requiring that I have to put my fee very specifically up front. I'm telling you im not comfortable doing that at this point until I talk to the client and have an understanding of what the work entails. It's feedback, dude. Do with it what you will. If you want it to be the "labor truck" for creative talent, then I can see why you want everyone's fees out there to begin with.
- It's a nice site btw. Not trying to be critical, jsut trying to communicate to you that I dont want to have to specify a day ratecannonball1978

That's fair enough you don't want to supply it. But we do require it. I don't think this will change any time soon though.
Thanks for the feedback.
- cannonball19780
I've also noticed there is no way to remove my profile
- moth0
Email us and we can remove you.
I'm afraid we cant change functionality based on the feedback of 1 user. The majority of users are happy to supply it.
- No.. I'm asking why you require it. I didn't ask you to change it.cannonball1978
- GeorgesIV0
still didn't receive login.. kinda a let down
- sktIII0
Our intention on day rates is quite far removed from creating a 'labor truck'. You put what you feel you are worth, and if you are the best match for a job, you are returned top of the list. There is no search on price, no bidding on jobs and no race to the bottom. Which is the business model of most comparable sites.
Ultimately we are trying to supply a service to both halves of the marketplace, and the half that will be paying for it don't want to have to phone or email everyone to find out how much they charge. Just like they don't want to have to phone everyone to find out if they know Rails, or if they are free next week.
It's not going to be for everyone, and if you really feel uncomfortable, you can always put in $1.
We do appreciate your feedback, but as Mike says, we can't act on every individuals comments.
- I can appreciate that. Just wanted to know why it was required information.cannonball1978
- You could jsut as well make it optional, and if people are happy to supply it knowing it makes things easier they wouldcannonball1978
