We are after a small, portable video camera that does at least 720p HD and doesn't cost the earth.
We've use a FlipCam mino HD in the past and they are a bit rubbish so we want to step up our game a bit.
What have you lot used? Recommendations would be great. Cheers.

...tempted to suggest GoPro

Corporate stuff really. Speaker presentations, event footage... that sort of thing.

No one?
There are literally dozens of Sony, Panasonic etc... how do you know what to choose?!

Really? We won't be doing any sport stuff... :-/

I wouldn't go for a GoPro for the type of video work you're doing...great cameras but not ideal for you IMO.
do you have a budget in mind?
Could go down the DSLR route >> Canon 660D (about £660)
or something like this >> Sony Handycam NEX-VG20E (about £900)

Do not get a GoPro.
Go for Sony or Canon, they make the best camcorders.
I have a Canon HF11 (few years old now) and it takes beautiful 1080p video.

The Canon VIXIA range is great

He's not a DP or videographer. He just wants to record meetings and events.

In other words, he's going to value auto-focus, auto-exposure, easy zoom, image stabilization, and the ability to record audio...
...rather than 12 stops of dynamic range.

It's not for me to use, it's for the PR team in the office... See my problem?!
Oh yeah, thanks 23kon... good one ;)

i'd go with the canon dslr as suggested.
covers all your requirements (mountable, not to expensive, easy to use) and takes great stills as well.
