Anyone actually made any solid connections, gotten any work, or gained exposure from this site?
I've been a fan for years and will be joining soon... Thoughts, good, bad, horror stories, etc.

yeah, I know the link doesn't work... conflict of interests.

I have used it for several years now - though not been very active. As far as I know it hasn't led to new work, but have made some good connections. Been featured on Photographyserved and that led to a boost in traffic.
I´m currently using the Prosite as my main portfolio, and I´m generally pleased with it - though it has some major SEO limitations.

Be*hance will more than likely follow the same path of Flash.

Ex got a (very) well paid illustration job with Amex through it.

I was featured on BrandingServed, was contacted by an international design publication to publish some of my work, and found my current job through their jobs board.
But.. I rarely if ever update or use the site itself. I haven't actually gotten any freelance work through them either. But then again I don't really aggressively promote myself through them either.
As with other design network sites / portfolios, it's all what you make of it.

A former coworker was contacted by a big company and ended up moving across the country for the gig. Came out of left field too...

I get more requests than Facebook to join a conversation, become friends, comment on work, endless amounts of spam, view updated portfolios and more or less dumb fucking questions about stupid shit. The same reasons that I deactivated my Facebook account...

Got a branding job because somebody liked some wedding invites I posted up there. Strange but true.
I get the impression that people who might be considering hiring a designer use it as a place to get ideas. I've had a few people say that they like such and such a style they saw on beyance.

worst than facebook, well almost.

I just use it mainly as a site to host my portfolio. Had to put something together really quick for an interview and didn't have time for a custom site. Havent touched it since I got a job though.

I like that you can embed it into LinkedIn. I need to update mine badly though.

As a freelancer, I'm on every site you can think off, from the dead Creative Hotlist, to Krop, Dribble, Flickr or Instagram and I use all of them strictly to promote my work.
The only site that has brought me actual work over the last 4 years is BeI-Iance and I'm not even that active.
I got contracted by medium size agencies in my city and in LA out of nowhere.
Yes you get tons of messages but unlike Linkedin (which can not be killed) you can go under preferences and in 5min turn everything off. They have a nice iphone app that it's free and you can keep msg there if you want.
If you are only going to pick one service, this is it.

i joined it 2 weeks ago and i must admit it boosted my works, inspired me to work more and harder. I think i never had so much attention and views of my work ever... my personnal website doesnt get as much attentions and views as my page over there. Iam defininately satisfied. I like it.
- I've been wanting to ditch c^rgo and go w beI-Iance Pro services for a whileMiguex
- inspiration eh?... maybe i'll give it another goohhhhhsnap
