all fair points - this has been my perspective for my entire life, only recently have my entrenched views on this started to erode a bit. GIven my circumstances (which we don't need to go into), I think it make some amount of sense.
Thanks for your candor and thoughts

it's all BS. people read into it what they want to get out of it.
Better to face up to reality than keep looking for what you hope it there.
This goes as much for the mediums (media?) as it does for the customers. Both might believe in it but that doesn't make it real.
Why sell on false hope?
Also, if you really to have special powers, why charge for them...convenient how they can make a living out of it- lots of truth in here, but also lots of generalisations, explore the www.skeptiko.com above :)GeorgesII

ha - and I'm really trying to avoid the religion, atheist, etc. debate here - honestly I don't need to know what you are and you don't need to know my beliefs. Just looking to see if anyone has tried a medium reading before and what their experience was?
- how about the "What's 'upstate' and what's not?" debate?locustsloth

Recently watched a documentary on HBOGO called "No one dies in Lily Dale". Lily Dale is located in upstate New York and has the highest concentration of mediums/spiritualist healers on the planet.

Have any of you ever done this?
I recognize it's all a bit untraditional, but the documentary had me thinking I might like to try it once by someone that has good reviews on Yelp or something. Thoughts?
