I've got a couple of them. One was from a friend, the other was my grandfather's long time Scotch decanter that I got as a gift after he died. He drank Dewars. I fill it with better stuff now. :)

Antique crystal decanters will leach lead into your whisky.
Do not use.

As randommail mentioned above, the lead gas used to create crystal has been known to contaminate the decanater contents over over a prolonged period of storage. Not such a problem if you plan on drinking that bottle of scotch quickly though...

Also to add, whisky decanters aren't truly meant for long term storage, but more for serving purposes. Most likely due to the lead leeching.
