Shopping Around

So I just discovered that our studio lead is shopping around for a new job.
He went out of town last week to see his 'sick uncle' and came back yesterady. I needed to borrow the studio laptop for a presentation this afternoon. When I opened the laptop finder was opened up to a 'Portfolio' folder and there was a PDF in the folder with his name on the file. I opened the PDF and the second page in was
"Thank you company X for the opportunity to interview..."
To be honest I don't really care much that he's shopping around. Actually, if he wants to leave then more power to him - he's a talented guy and deserves a better opportunity should one present itself. Heck, i'm not above shopping around myself (3 interviews in the past year).
Anyway, I was more wondering if anyone else caught their coworkers / higher-ups 'shopping around'? What, if anything, did you do about it? What happened to that person? Did they stay/leave? And what would you do in my position?
Have fun... ;)

LOL... dude it wasn't my intention to discover the thank you letter stuff. I just wanted to look at the portfolio. Besides it was all on the company laptop.... COMPANY LAPTOP.
So sure, maybe I shouldn't have opened the portfolio. But maybe he shouldn't be using the company laptop to present and solicit to potential employers? It's a grey arguement there... and not one i really want to get into.

a former manager let slip one night at drinks that he was looking elsewhere- i had no idea, he'd been at his spot for over 15 yrs and was about as far up the chain as he could get without being part of the family... turned out that he had a lot more insight into the inner workings of the company, which apparently was on financial life support, even though it appeared to me like there was a lot of cash-flow and plenty of work.
i ended up moving on shortly after that conversation, which turned out to be a very good move.

It's all about the money.

A former AD accidentally copied her portfolio to a subfolder in a docket on the server.

Do you think that portfolio was placed there on purpose, for you to "accidentally" find? It's a hint, and you better learn how to deal with it quickly. In the case that you're at the best job in the whole world, and the lead is just finding something better. Then there's nothing to think about. But obviously you think it deserves some thought, so I take it then something is up. There's a good reason for him leaving, and you should find out what it is. Shit is going down...

1. What an idiot for leaving his portfolio on the company laptop
2. Next time you see him, give him a wink and say "Nice portfolio".I borrowed a work laptop a few years ago. A girl had borrowed it for the weekend before. Lots of pics of her and her boyf' doing a few naughty things. I was the total gentleman and posted on the web*
*I actually copied them on to a USB drive and handed them to her. She was slightly embarrassed to say the least.
