  a former manager let slip one night at drinks that he was looking elsewhere- i had no idea, he'd been at his spot for over 15 yrs and was about as far up the chain as he could get without being part of the family... turned out that he had a lot more insight into the inner workings of the company, which apparently was on financial life support, even though it appeared to me like there was a lot of cash-flow and plenty of work.

  i ended up moving on shortly after that conversation, which turned out to be a very good move.
