The display is glass and the body is aluminium. How does it feel 'plastic'. You have problems with your fingers.

I got the nexus 7 about a week or so ago it's very very good I'm surprised at how much I like it.
I was worried that a 7inch model would be sheisse but it's totally a great size. Be it an ipad mini or a nexus 7 the size is pretty good!

I almost got the Nexus 7 today....hmmm. must admit it was pretty cool, plus the price almost sold me.
- Got mine when it first came out. Still happy with it. If you are getting the latest with the memory bump, even better.ETM
- cool, can't find it in stores to pick up though. is it all online? wth? i need it tomorrow! lolsea_sea
- only store i saw it in was sold out :(sea_sea
- LOL Nexus 7 is for poor people! :Ppango
- Nexus 7 is for people who want to explore Android. Or give an affordable gift. Or let their kids use it instead.ETM
- And I'll wager most of us Nexus 7 owners already own a 10" iPad.ETM

well I was going to get a new Kindle (not the fire just the one with the white backlit background) for a upcoming trip but I guess I should probably just get one of these an run the Kindle app on it instead.
- I regret my kindle fire purchase. it's really annoying to use without a home button.vwsung18t

I think I'm going to wait for another week or two to make sure there aren't any initial hardware horror stories and then im'a buy one, fuck it.

I bought one on Friday. I have a first gen ipad which almost never leaves my side at home. This new one is sweet though. Lightning fast (compared to 1st gen ipad) and makes the old one feel like a brick. The display seems great to me (although I've yet to use anything with a retina display) and I'm pretty confident this will get even more hammered than my current ipad.
- does it feel plastic to you though? i guess i am comparing it to my 1st gen ipad and 4S..autoflavour
- No. Feels pretty solid and well put together.JerseyRaindog

i played with one in the store today.. to be honest, it felt a little plastic.. like if it was dropped, it wouldnt shatter, it would just crack like if you dropped a nokia or something.
was nice tho.. and to be honest, actually made the ipad sitting next to it seem oversized and unwieldy ..
i would probably still buy one.. but yep.. definitely wouldnt treat it like i do the 1st Gen ipad we have.. i dont think the mini would last with my 2 year old drooling all over it like the 1 is..
- so, now sturdy is a problem?monospaced
- no, not a problem.. just seemed a lot more plastic than any apple product that i have played with since the original imacsautoflavour
- imacs.. like i said.. i would still buy one.. just commenting on my experience..autoflavour
- i can film an unboxing video if you want, and then insert the comments in the videoautoflavour
- more plasticy than the plastic iphones from a few years ago?monospaced

The main question is... Do we risk getting the first gen mini? I've had bad experience in the past with first gen apple products, later editions like the last iBook they made, the 4s and the iPad 2 have been absolutely flawless, for me, however.
- i think i am going to wait. save my monies so i can get more gigs than i can afford right now anyway.sea_sea

This is the moment I've been telling everyone about ever since I held iPad 1 in my hands: "this is, from its start, old technology we'll laugh about soon when people get tablets which are light and thin".
This is what I always saw iPads as:
The mini is the first one that makes a bit of sense. It is finally light and thin. I don't see how Apple can sell any of the old iPads now, be it 2, 3, or 4, other than to the retired crowd.
- exactly the reason why i never was attracted to the ipad. the mini does makes more sense.sea_sea

soooo do i get one? i don't own an iphone or an i pad, I never liked the original ipad size, but when i heard of this one i knew it would work better for me. i like the size and the idea that i can travel and connect to the web without having to carry my laptop, that's quite enticing actually.
will i regret it if i don't wait for the second generation? hmm
- got an ipad and it's pretty much always being used in our apartment - for some people, yup, get oneinteliboy
