Anyone here do this? I want to learn the technique. Any advice on where to begin? I've seen beginner kits in art stores and know there are Youtubes...anything else? I have some project ideas. What's the best way to get started?

i used to build foundation layers with melted beeswax and then use oils on top. not quite encaustic painting though. lately i've been playing with oil paint sticks of different sizes. encaustic paints are kinda pricey.
- this dude's process is close to what i would do. not buying actual "encaustic" pigments.Douglas

seems like a really fussy way to paint

Any good examples of what people are doing with encaustics these days?

definitely worth taking a course from someone who knows what they're doing. save you wasting a lot of materials
