i need to get a new one for the wife's old (pre-unibody design) model type macbook pro 4.1
found them anywhere from $59 to $140. would like to go cheaper (but also want to make sure it's quality) oxymoron maybe, but i found it here for $59, and it has good reviews and is ranked as A- through the BBB. http://www.laptopbatteryone.com/…
anyone ever bought a new older macbook battery, or dealt with the site i linked specifically? any insight on this matter would be very useful. thanks all!

I think its safe to assume it does matter.
I actually bought my 3rd battery today for the first unibody mbp because the computer kept shutting down, all of them were apple so not sure what that means, I would probably get apple just so you can feel better about customer service, unless you can buy it at costco.hope it helps

I thought I had battery problems, and it turns out it was the motherboard/gpu overheating causing operational problems. If your machine/battery gets super hot, look into a replacement gpu or motherboard (they can determine which is the culprit and will fix it on the cheap). It might not be the battery, that's all.

Oh man, my computer get super hot, maybe that was the problem?
But I also got a "not charging' msg on the menu bar when the laptop was plugged in.I don't really use that computer much, but I needed it for a show in 10days, so I'll try replacing the battery first, if not I will send it to repair.
When you say on the cheap, any idea on an aprox number? $300 $700? more? I'm way out of apple care of that one
- Apple said my motherboard was completely fried and that they would fix for $300. Probably cheaper if I brought it in earlier, though.monospaced
- I waited until it was too late and a new machine was ordered. I was 4 years out of Apple Care, btw.monospaced
