ouch.... yes, i know film can take time, but it sounds like they needed to at least hear from their rockstar photog.... or maybe there was some miscommunication....
If this is time for developing film is communicated in advance, that's fine.... but it sounds like it wasn't... most people seem to assume anything over 2 days is eternity these days...
....note that some wedding couples take almost a year to pick images for their album after hounding the photographer for images the next day after their ceremony....

ok that photographer should at least give customer the option to choose film or digital.
and the usual turn around time is 1 to 2 month, depends on which photographer it is. i've heard 1 year...ya thats ridiculous.
$7000?!?!?! he could have hire an assistant to process the photos!! or out source them to a retoucher! I do retouch for wedding photogs and they only charge people 3 to 4k.

Are they ever going to look at the photos, not really.
Should have hired him for $1000 and get like one good of the ceremony.

at least he didn't turn all their wedding photos into ASCII art cross stich embroidery and sell them on Etsy.....

I'm slowly working my way up to decent fees doing weddings, but I keep cheating myself. I just quoted someone $1000 for
1-9pm
100 guests
Country club
Total 3 hrs drivingI will look at this as my graduation from being a "amateur student photographer" and jump to $1400.
The thing is that if I can really master the Lightroom workflow, I know I could make this super easy for me.
- That's insane, charge more.nb

- Hijo, you need to charge more ASAP! More that $1400 too. You are talented and need to get up toward $3k now. Then closer to $7k when you are wanted all the timecapn_ron
- Not sure what your wedding pics look like, but some of the other stuff you've posted here is fantastic! UP THOSE FEES BUDnb
- hijo, at the very low end, $2000 for sure. make this the last time @ $1000...futurefood
- My wedding was 7 years ago in SD. We paid $1500 for photos and thought it was a great deal. Once you've got a couple under your belt up that rate ASAP. $2k+ minnocomply

Film or digital is irrelevant, it's about the quality and skill of the photographer. I know photogs that charge $2000 and $30000 for a wedding. As you can imagine, they are in different leagues with different clients.

who give's a flying fuck what medium the artist prefers? BUT I hope the dude brought more than one camera, otherwise he's a douchenugget.

When my son was born 2 years ago i got myself a cheap 35mm camera - because, why not. I took hundreds of pics with that camera and other hundreds with digital. Guess which pics end up in the photo album? Obviously it's film because its way more convenient than printing digital BUT there is more to it.
Film indeed is better because in many ways it's worse. When you get your prints a few days later you look at each print as a REAL memory. Trivialities like face a bit out of focus, too much grain, a bit wrong exposure... those things don't matter because the moment counts. With digital you would preview what you got right away and if there are some tech issues your megalomania would tell you that you can get the same moment again perfectly. But you can't. Technical perfection and catching the moment have nothing to do one with another.
Those tech tests where some pixel-fuckers compare digital to film based on resolution, color and latitude charts mean absolutely nothing. You have to also compare the psychological implications of the medium and the one using the medium.

- I've got this 56k dial-up modem if you want it. I'll fax you the details.Morning_star
- Agree, but you can also simulate this with a digital camera: shoot with the viewfinder and turn "review" off.nb
- Don't look at your photos for a few weeks. Done. I've used this approach, it's interesting and fun.nb
