Curious how many of you homeowners (or even renters for that matter) have an itemized list of valuable things, serial numbers, etc. for your homeowners insurance and have this on file with the providers. Seems like this is always something people never get around to. Just want to realize I am not alone in procrastinating about this.

I have renters insurance and business insurance. I haven't itemized anything. I don't even know wtf to do.

Also, seems a fucking pain that you have to catalog shit every time you buy something?

I recently moved...across the border, so I had to itemize everything for customs. The list is Quantity, Item, Description (if necessary) and value. It was a huge list but is now serving double duty for insurance purposes. I haven't submitted it to my insurance company but keep a version of it in dropbox.
I noticed there are a number of apps online for this kind of thing that simplify the process for you. I just did mine in inDesign.
I also had a hell of a time trying to get homeowners insurance because I have a pit bull.....assholes

Pfffft. It doesn't matter what's on your list. The insurance people are going to rip you off big time if you ever make even the merest claim.
