But once again, the substance of the debate was not the substance. It was the attitude. Ryan was soft-spoken, sincere, and serious. Biden seemed to take the entire proceeding as a farce. In treating it so, he made it so. More importantly, he made the Obama administration look like what it is: a bullying, bloviating, obnoxious administration more interested in talking over its opponents than working with them to improve the lives of Americans.

The deficit is just the excuse. Republicans have never actually reduced the deficit. The real goal is social engineering. Getting rid of the social safety net and worker protections so that capital has a bigger advantage over labor.

I think there were two moments that were especially damaging. One where Biden forced Ryan to defend Social Security privatization. That will not play well with voters especially seniors.
Second where Ryan admitted a Romney administration would end abortion rights. Of course every Republican takes this position but they don't like to say it out loud. Ryan is especially extreme since he oppose abortion even in cases of rape and incest.

Dude did you listen to their stance on the issue? He (Ryan) stated many times except for those instances.
Here's a thought... anyone here want to defend the good that comes from an abortion. I am not a staunch pro-life, but I am pro-life... I do feel its a sketchy issue... personal rights etc... but please stop your bitchery about an non-issue. Bush for 8 years didnt come close to ending Roe v Wade, nor will this republican administration, if elected. But seriously we have to move on past this crap and try to solve the amount of abortions happening today. I think this is something we can all agree upon, unless there is someone willing to say that having an abortion is completely normal and doesnt mentally and spiritually break a young woman that chooses to have one?
If you have not had a child and dont know what Ryan was speaking of... watching a 7 week old embryos' beating heart... I hope you someday do have that experience and I feel you will also maybe have a second thought about when life starts.
Its not an easy issue... not black and white and will never be, but lets try to limit abortions as a society, not based on an immoral sin to some church's beliefs, but based on an obvious evidence that it is an act that does have consequences.
