Anyone ever shipped an iMac? I'm looking for the most secure way / packaging without spending a fortune.

put it back in the box it came in.

I did it with a 24" a couple years ago. I brought it directly to the shipping store (UPS, probably) and they found a box that was a good fit. Then they wrapped it with some foam, put some foam peanuts into the box, put the iMac in the box, and filled the rest with more peanuts. It was surrounded by lots of padding and shipped very well.

The styrofoam the iMacs come with should be adequate protection. If you live close to an Apple store you can go and ask for the outer brown box that they come shipped in. If you want extra protection, do what mono suggested, and fill in the empty space with foam peanuts.

If you still have the box, use that - My 27" iMac was shipped last month and everything was perfect.

That thing came all the way from China and you're still using it today.
Apple used to have these things sitting in their stores and kids would wip their fingers all over them 10 hours a day.
It's not exactly delicate. Put it in the box, and UPS it.

That's easy, just go to the Apple Store, buy an iMac and use the box it came in. Duh.
