Apple creates iPad that cant handle flash, so they kill flash, hence turning a majority of web designers into Wordpress template tweakers. Its like creating a car that cant handle hills, so instead of adding more power to their new piece of shit car, they flatten all the hills.
I hope Googles new tab kills the iPad.
IPad, great for its own apps, but a hunk of shit for web browsing.- how about learning to do native apps? on Android is the same thing. Flash got discontinued.ernexbcn
- by Adobe on mobile devices.ernexbcn
- a hate flash. who the fuck wants a plugin to surf the web? good riddance.inteliboy
- Moldero sir you are spot on!
They create devices that are inadequate to give a full internet experience...Hombre_Lobo - So they blamed the very thing that the device is too weak to run. Which is stupid because now tech is much more powerful.Hombre_Lobo
- Powerful, so they have no argument.Hombre_Lobo

Just because the iOS doesn't support Flash doesn't mean Apple "killed" it. Adobe, in fact, discontinued support for Flash mobile instead of making it kick-ass on non-iOS devices. That being said, I'd like to see more of this "competition" as well.
- get your head out of your ass ben! jk. ;)instrmntl

I bet there's a larger tablet already planned for a +1 year release.

Is the Nexus Q separate from Google TV, or a replacement for it? Seems weird they would rename and start over when they'd already started their TV thing years ago.

Google always knows how to raise expectations and then gracefully fail at meeting them. I wish there was more real competition, I really do, but the fact is, there isn't one. Other than geeks, Android is week. How many friends non tech savvy do you know that praise their android? None. And that is why Google will always be behind. They aim too Sci-Fi years ahead, not realistic. Who the fuck wants to walk around with a pair of fugly glasses?? etc.. I'm not complaining about they evolving technology, just that they know shit about timing to release it..

monolith has to be a character account of Boz.

My take from the event:
Vic Gundotra is a nice speaker and he should lead all these keynotes like today.
Google Glass showcase was awesome, Sergey Brin seemed to be on cocaine (or HIGH ON LIFE!). I'm glad Google is pushing on wearable computing and can't wait to see what the technology will be like in 5 years. Mike Abrash (ex id Software, now at Valve) is also working on wearable computing at Valve Software) http://blogs.valvesoftware.com/a…
The 7 inch tablet seems great and at the right price. Here's hope the thing won't get abandoned on future Android releases. I was hoping they would go against Apple with an equally sized tablet, it seems they want to screw Amazon up (Amazon is also using Android but a heavily modified fork and not using any of the Google services on it).
The Nexus Q thing is expensive, lots of people think Apple has something ready for the christmas season regarding TV, we'll see about that. But with the price of one Nexus Q you get 3 Apple TVs now, and with Snow Lion those things will even more useful (Airplay Mirroring).
- Another cool thing was everyone on the event got a free nexus Q, the tablet and a Galaxy Nexus smartphoneernexbcn
- Continuing the tradition of the previous I/O events, but on this one they gave more freebiesernexbcn

After watching the event I can't understand how Microsoft could stage such a half-assed event few days earlier to show their tablets and they couldn't even provide release dates or even pricing. They wouldn't even let the press use the devices after it.

Yep.. Google absolutely and totally shit all over Apple
This is how you do 3D maps. Super high resolution 3D maps of major cities.Oh and btw notifications on Android are not completely interactive. Cupertion START YOUR COPIERS! ;)
- *are now completely interactive
**Cupertion=Cupertin...monolith - you can make your point come across without sounding like a raging fanboyernexbcn
- I'm just imitating the type of responses that come from raging Apple fanboys when Apple does things. ;)monolith
- why keep spinning the bullshit? you post like an annoying fanboy because some other randoms also do?inteliboy

How is Google's 3D maps better than Apple's 3D maps? Genuine question, as they don't look all that much different.
- Neither have been released yet. Both will be available on iOS too.ernexbcn

"you can make your point come across without sounding like a raging fanboy" - ernexbcn
you seem to be the definition of fanboy; you're skewed mind can't seem to hand any bad news regarding apple. talk about smug.
- ernexbcn0
Which bad news? the nonsense some of you have written?
Skewed mind? you missed the part where I opened this thread and basically praised most of the stuff they announced.

seriously, 3D Maps are cool... for 5min. Its an eye candy that brings nothing concrete.
- inteliboy0
That nexus Q thing looks sweet. Also a well supported but cheap/affordable tablet is something that could really take off.
ps - What's with these mythical apple fanboys the android/pc dorks always seems to be complaining about? All I ever seem to read on comments of tech articles are a) how shit Apple are b) how new product x is going to shit on Apple. The pc/android nerds are bloody obsessed with Apple.
- +1 on the fanboy stuff.Nathan_Adams
- All fan boys are tools, but if you haven't seen any apple fan boys you must be living in a cave. There are even some on qbn!Hombre_Lobo

"Apple creates iPad that cant handle flash, so they kill flash"
Adobe killed Flash when they took their eyes off the road and tried to force it into being a Web app platform instead of a multimedia platform.
This is all irrelevant anyway because it's not like Flash runs on the Nexus 7. Looks like Apple was right.
- um.. Flash does run on Nexus 7 don't know what you are talking about.monolith
- http://www.theverge.…animatedgif
- Unless you mean compiled apps... which the iPad can also run so fuck knows what you're raving aboutanimatedgif
- you do realize that there are gazillion browsers on Android. You meant Chrome. This is not iOS you know.monolith
- and btw, Flash is not "killed". They are just not bringing new features to it, it's still there.monolith
- Just because the corpse is still hanging about doesn't mean it's alive. Adobe ditched itanimatedgif
- You need to find a new axe to grind Bozanimatedgif

@Hombre_Lobo they didn't blame the devices for being slow, they blamed Adobe for not getting their act together and proving they could provide a plugin with reasonable cpu/memory/battery usage.
Best proof that Apple was right is that a few years later Adobe itself decided to kill the Flash plugin for mobile devices.
- And don't tell me it still exists, they aren't going to update it anymore as of today.ernexbcn
- That's all well and good but last time I checked my phone runs flash fine with no problems.Hombre_Lobo
- Nobody doing a site for mobile will do it on Flash nowadays.ernexbcn
- yep.. They'll do an app cause html5 runs like shit on mobilemonolith
- also, proof apple were right?
well thats completely wrong. They weren't right, they just facilitated the death of flash by not...Hombre_Lobo - not supporting it. Which really as digital content creators we should be personally outraged by. Flash worked perfectly fine before..Hombre_Lobo
- before apple came along, so why should a company dictate what is and isn't a good web format?Hombre_Lobo
- and obviously mobile sites will be done in html/html5 simply because of mass apple iOS users.Hombre_Lobo
- Adobe simply accepted what apple did to the industry and changed strategies accordingly.Hombre_Lobo
