He started something good at the right time with the right enthusiasm. As it grew his face also grew bigger, and after a critical point he pushed himself away from real people. Popularity became his only friend, maybe because he thought it could protect him.
He is dead regardless if he can pull out something really big from the hat.Slowly everyone will forget

He's not doing journalism, gimme a break. This guy was given the opportunity to leak russian gov. emails and chose not to. So let's not pretend he's doing what he's been doing for the greater good, if that were the case, were are the russian leaks? to me this dude is conspiring against western democracies.
- Meddled in the US elections.
Meddled in the Catalonian crisis in Spain
Meddled in brexit? not sure but was visited by Farage in the embassy, list goes on.ernexbcn - the mans a loose cannon, you only have to watch the docs about him and approved by him to see that. Narcissism one helluva drug.fadein11
- Russian leaks or not does that take away anything from the leaked stuff? And all the war crimes exposed?NBQ00
- of course it does take away when your so called journalist/leaks agency has an agenda or it's probably sponsored by a kleptocracy like Russiaernexbcn
- were offered a substantial russian leak and dismissed it, another group ended up releasing it, but they originally wanted this guy's joint to do it, refusedernexbcn
- I don't think the 2010 Iraq video that exposed war crimes has any agenda. Why should such stuff be secret from the public.NBQ00
- keep missing the pointernexbcn
- the Iraq vid release was peak wiki though, important work. Not sure anything much important has followed? feel free to correct me though.fadein11
- shouldn't western democracies be thankful if journalists or civil people inform puplic if the state is doing wrong when mass killing civilians for "greatergood"api
- Of coursefadein11
- The idea of Wikileaks is good and they released some important stuff. Assange also showed himself to be someone who is not exactly the pinnacle of journalisticyuekit
- integrity. Probably the lowest point was when he suggested Seth Rich, a guy who worked at for the Democratic Party and was randomly murdered, was the source ofyuekit
- the leaked emails, when in fact he almost certainly knew that they were hacked by the Russian government.yuekit
- Doesn't mean he should be prosecuted for publishing classified information, but there was definitely a weird split between the image they put forward as thisyuekit
- neutral journalistic organization, and the reality that they clearly did have an agenda.yuekit
- +1 apiset
- Meddled in the US elections.

Like him or not, this is what happens to real journalists and journalism.
Which is why real journalism doesn't exist anymore.
- Do you really think he was a journalist?jmckinno
- He did what real journalists should've done: uncovering a lot of shit and corruption. And not to forget all the war crimes.NBQ00
- and sometimes there are consequences for the laws you break along the way.
the megalomaniac gonna die, severian - It did take this thread 7 years to peak.robotron3k
- wow, he looks old and broken.renderedred
- render, what a surprise eh?NBQ00
- he always had grey hair thoughpinkfloyd
- He steals or is given stolen information, And publishes the information as is. How is that journalism?jmckinno
- WikiLeaks is not engaged in journalism because it doesn’t analyze or contextualize the material it publishes; it merely serves as a dumping ground for informatijmckinno
- he brought/leaked the truth about innocent killings (manning) to the public. now he has to pay for it. hope UK does not give him to US, it would be wrong. asyl.api
- jmckinno - he leaked it to newspapers who contextualised it for us, right? And being locked in a room for 7 years surely makes anyone a narcissistIanbolton
- ppl confuse Wikileaks for journalism bcs it's a newsworthy, fairly reliable source of datarenderedred
