What can you tell me about China? I mean, I've read your QBN blog posts. But, that's probably not the breakdown I'm really looking for. Give it to me in a sentence or two.

horn honking, fire cracker popping, short short mini skirt cuties, dusty, dirty mildew, nose pickers, throat hawking spitting old women, MSG in all food, no coffee, rain rain rain, hot and super humid, KTV aka whore house-kareoke bars, massage, sexy massage, chow fun, fish smelling dirty laundry, mopeds, people standing in the middle of the street, knock offs of all kinds, army police, fake apple stores, super poor versus super wealthy, did i mention honking 24 hours??
is that ok, this is for Fujian provence in the city of Fuqing [pronounced: FUU-CHING] not as we hope to be pronounced as "FUCKING" but i call it the FUCKING CITY!!!

perhaps you should direct this thread at either ephix who used to live in hong kong and jevad who still lives in hong kong or nylon or mydo who live in shanghai.. as i am just a visitor, they actually live here, although, they live in the nice cities where anything i have in nyc htey have if not more so.. cept in nyc we have more culture diverse people as the chinese citties are more towards 60-70% chinese versus nyc which is everything..

ive met jevad back in 2008 twice, trying to get some time off to meet mydo in shanghai, but my development deadlines are killer as i am working 6 days a week on average of 14-18 hours a day.. i may get some downtime after july 6th when another designer from the states comes here.. but not sure if i will get to goto shanghai, or taipei.. i have tons of people i want to see in taipei, also we have an office there, and i do want to meet mydo, but not sure if it will happen on this trip, as again my deadlines are crazy as i have to design and develop a lot more than usual ..
but in terms of meeting qbners, ive met over 250 thru out the world.

e-pill pretty much nailed it in his first response, except for the coffee thing? I went through quite a few cities in the year I was there, and found plenty, from Shenzhen to Harbin.
The old women and men hocking and spitting everywhere comes as a shock initially, but you get used to walking down the street and stepping on a loogie every 4th or 5th step. If you step to avoid it, you'll probably just step on another one.
KTVs are the Chinese idea of a good time. They are not overly entertaining for anyone else. Sadly, in a lot of places, it's that or a restaurant. Some small towns have one bar, which is always packed with heavy drinkers, and the Chinese can get pretty messy when they drink. I went to one small town outside of Hangzhou with an African friend of mine, and for many it was the first time seeing a black person, or someone as tall as me (6'4").
There is a huge disparity in incomes there too. One of the places where I worked was filled with Mercedes, BMW etc in the car park, and across the road there was an empty field, where the incredibly poor were growing what vegetables they could, and living under tarpaulins.
Fireworks are used to celebrate EVERYTHING. Weddings, birthdays, 新年快乐 (Happy New Year!), Spring Festival, building openings.... just everything. Shanghai on Chinese New Year sounds like a fucking warzone.
Also, there are 3 different kinds of police, and pretty much all of them don't give a fuck. I saw one fight break out at a restaurant between a dozen guys, two cops tried to stop it, got threatened, and ran away.
Crazy country!!
- oh yes shenzhen has a ton of starbucks.. i was talking about Fuqing where im at now..e-pill
- no coffee here.e-pill
- so you're developing a healthy appreciation for tea :)
Had a bath in red tea yet? Bizarre.BuddhaHat - you are 6'4?? damn!! at least you got the #4 in your height!! w00t!!e-pill
- i drink green tea 5 times a daye-pill

y0 Eddie! Glad you're doing great out there. That's not really a question.
- BuddhaHat0
Oh yeah, PS. It's heavily polluted, and humid as fuck. Some days I'd get a kilometre down the road on my bike and turn back, because I was just choking on the pollution.
A dirty day in Shanghai
A nice day in Shanghai
Awesome temples
Rowr:
Oh yeah, and kiss goodbye to fresh, raw vegetables when you come here... they cook everything; which is good. There were some fields I rode past where human waste was definitely being used as fertilizer. Gross.
- i have to disagree on the veges.. their fruit and veges are superb, at least here they aree-pill
- i get daily peaches, plums, apples, peppers, dragon fruit, limes all super fresh..e-pill
- the veges are all cooked but i guess im used to it like that..e-pill
- yeah the fruit is amazing, it actually tastes like something. But you peel most of it, or it hangs off a tree. Not like the veg.BuddhaHat
- vegetables.BuddhaHat
- PS. This is the first time you and I have been even close to the same time zone and posting at the same time. Hi Eddie!!!!BuddhaHat

Oh yeah, e-pill, best way to get through the firewall on a Mac is to get an Express VPN account for $100 a year, or $12/month, and on a PC you can get away with free software like u21 or FreeGate.
- ephix mentioned this to me..so what does that mean? i can access all the blocked sites?e-pill
- i miss youtube the most as i see a blank screen for all the music heree-pill
- Yeah, you can access everything with Express VPN (PC&Mac). FreeGate is flaky.BuddhaHat
- I know, I missed YouTube so much! But don't forget Tudou, Soku etc, they have lots of music.BuddhaHat
- 现在你可以说汉语吗?BuddhaHat
- waat?!sea_sea
