Lauching a new portfolio site: www.blaytont.com Works great in everything except IE of course (all versions). Styles dropping out, but that's ok. I'm more concerned with the break in the layout. Take it easy on me..I'm new at this. Thanks.

Run you page through some html validation, looking like unclosed tags.

I would say your problem is in your comments in the css.

First thing I notice: everything feels grey. Seems like nothing pops up. I like when I rollover the thumbnails, it feels more friendly.

Man, it's dark in here.

Very dark/grey. Feels like viewing the world through dark glasses.

story corps is looking for an animator fyi. go get em'
did you want a critique on your site? or programming advice. i can give the first.

Loose the textured background, it's corny.
"interactive art director" should be nicer type.
Copyright doesn't need to be italic.

And loose the gray from the top of your resume.

There's a problem with your images, they're all faded. Maybe you upload new jpgs.

You have links going to the actual site, opening lightboxes, popup windows (that don't actually show anything) and opening extra pages with a list of images to view.
I'd suggest being a little bit more coherent and pick just one method of presenting your work.
- I agree..I was just trying to get everything up quickly. Thanks for the advice.
