I'm a bit surprised on how many designers here do not think branding works "on a freelance" level. If you don't believe branding works, why would you expect your clients to believe it?
You might not run ads on television or a magazine, but these days there are tons of other ways to do brand yourself, in facts the tools to do it these days can be more effective to reach out a specific target demographic based on how much google and facebook spy on us 24/7

for me its creating a coherent image for what i do.. so my business card, flyer, sticker, website, ID at the beginning of videos etc is consistent..
also its kind of cool when someone asks for your card and they recognize your logo from one of the stickers you have put all over the city..
i dont know.. for me its more than just a logo.. its what drives the direction of what i produce

The first logo from when the Pixeltwins company was started in 1999
A revision to it that I never really pushed but liked
I always needed my own site so I have this
As the direction of pixeltwins changed over the years, not just limiting itself to digital, I have began referring to my professional outfit as Born of Man and will be fully switched over to the new company by the end of the year (maybe). Letting go of Pixeltwins is harder than i'd thought it would be

although for me, i get bored with a logo after a few years and rebrand.. the last one i used was also a japanese brand appropriation.. this time of Asahi..
one might argue that i am not really designing logos..
it would be a valid argument.. but i never claimed to be a logo designer..that said, while the style is the same, and there usually is 1 element the same (in both of these cases the letter A), the rest of the letters in both logos were had to be made from scratch as they didnt include the letters i needed.
Previous AUTO64 Logo
Current AUTO64 Logo
Apart from any other reason, for me changing shit up every few years means i get to rethink all the things i have produced.. and get to get new ones.. ie new business cards, new stickers, new whatever.. its kind of expensive, but at the same time, usually by the time i get to that point, i am needing to reorder stock anyway.
- ooops.. not sure why that logo was there twice..autoflavour
- and in reality, anyone i work with knows me as Tom anyway..autoflavour
- What's the significance of the 064?albums
- nothing really, it was actually an mix of 2 other things.. AUTOFLAVOUR and TOKYO2064autoflavour
- 2 seperate projects, both dropped and then reinvented..autoflavour
- like i said, i love reinventing what i do, if only so i can approach it new waysautoflavour
- but as for 64.. i dont know, its just a cool number..autoflavour
- cool cool, just wonderedalbums
