Morning all,
What effects/adjustment layers/filters generally add the most data to a Photoshop file size?
I'm having to compress some mammoth 8GB PSB files to make them more manageable, but don't want to compress too many layers.
What are the best effects/adjustments to target if I'm interested in simply reducing file size?

strange but true fact. disable all layers making the image transparent before saving and the saved file size will be much smaller than wih the layers turned on.

I believe Photoshop saves a flattened version with every file, so that would make sense. The main answer would be anything that adds noise, it's moronic that an application like Photoshop doesn't have a plain non-destructive noise adjustment layer or layer style by now.
This is basic shit adobe, Fireworks has it, After Effects has it.
- Photoshop has it if you use smart objects which you should.CyBrainX

- ahh yeah suppose so, bit of a clunky work around. You're storing/loading pointless data still.animatedgif

If the document has smart objects in it, those can also contribute to the enormity of files. Of course, it depends on their content and how they're being scaled, but it's worth a look.

Adjustment layers add negligible file size.
Get into the habit of using shape layers and vector masks when you can. Most people don't.
