This is a serious question.
What are creative and rewarding jobs besides the normal "graphic designer" or "art director"?
I graduated almost two years ago, and have not found a full time job yet. I've freelanced for some good places and am slowly building my portfolio, but right now I am unemployed and bored.
I had a few interviews lately, but the positions went to other people in the end. I look online at positions, but they are mostly at crap places and I don't think it would be rewarding even if they do hire me.
What jobs are like "production artist"?

This is a question only you can answer.
What are you into?
For instance if you like to skate, working for a skateboarding company would probably be appealing to you.

Architect. Sure you'll need to go back to university for another 5 years, you won't make any money until you're 50, but you'll get a lot of respect in the field when you say you trained to be a graphic designer first, and it's this that gives your buildings your hallmark style and sophistication.
- the unemployment rate for Architects in Chicago is currently 50%... my wife works at an architecture firm..vaxorcist

Depends on if you want to stay doing creative or not. Aside from career, if you find doing creative work rewarding, you should keep trying. Self promotion is the hardest client you can have.
If you can't find a job in your core discipline, it could one of the following:
- your work does not reflect the job you want.
- you expected to land a job thinking that a BFA degree will get you any job you want.
- you don't really love designing.
- you don't do a lot of personal work to show case your talent which can't be shown with client work.If you still want to be a creative but can't find with in your learned discipline, you should explore other creative disciplines:
- writing
- painting
- industrial design
etcIf you picked creative because it sounded cool and thought you would make lots of money, go back to school and learn something else.

I took a job as a production artist out of school. Did some freelance on the side to keep my sanity, and then made my way up to an art director position. Everyone's road is different, but you can learn on the way. Your first job, most of the time, isn't going to be the dream job you want. You have to hustle your way lol.
