Hello, I work for a publishing company (like Jackie Treehorn). Our Editorial staff mostly use Windows-based laptops but a few of them have Macs. There is Editorial software that lets them share files, mostly text and Word docs. It does versioning, revisions etc.
Not available for the Mac. I see that there is software such as Parallels http://www.parallels.com/product… that will allow them to run Windows software windowed in the Mac environment. Anyone have any experience with this? If not, what would you recommend? Thanks in advance.

- Helpful, thanks.DrBombay

This is probably the best solution because you don't require windows.
but I think it doesn't work with every app. It's a matter of trying before all the other solutions are more bloated, you shouldn't need to install a full blown windows just for one app... http://www.codeweavers.com/produ…

I have used parallels for six months. It works pretty well. It is nice because you can drag and drop between windows and mac. And copy and paste works as well.
We have recently been changed over to iSpace (Citrix), which runs virtually, from the cloud, instead of installed like parallels. Seems to run much slower, which makes sense. Plus, no drag and drop between mac and iSpace.

Boot Camp maybe.

This is a great help, thanks Mac geeks!

Boot Camp is the best solution because its the fastest. Parallels works great but is very very slow and a bit annoying to work with.
- Boot Camp is native so runs at speed, fuck the rest, waste of money.********

@mekk sometimes you can't afford quitting OS X and boot into Windows, Parallels & VMWare can run fine if you have enough RAM and have some reasonable VM settings, like not so much RAM and perhaps using a version of Windows that is not the latest.

Something controlling versioning should be ran in the native environment really or it'll be a pain.
What is the software and maybe looking into an SVN powered system would be more beneficial and cheaper.

Why not just use Office for Mac? I have it on my laptop and it's fine.
- the software he needs isn't available for the Macmonospaced
- What software is it though? There might be a mac compatible alternativeanimatedgif
- He wouldn't be asking I'd there was. Read the fucking original post already.monospaced
