Look the pats were a great team. Not this year. Worst defense in the league. Limped their way into the superbowl.
Giants only have 2 probowlers. They lost 5 out their last 8 games (not including early losses to the crappy Redskins and Seahawks). Then rode a hot streak.
Both teams got to the big game via the f-ups of opponents in the conference championship games.
Neither form of these teams will go down as one of the great ones. This Giants squad has got to be the worst of the teams that have multiple champs in the same decade. That being said, they have the potential to get better. But great teams don't lose to the shit squads that the NYGs lost to during the regular season.

You clearly dont watch the NFL very closely. The Pats got here due to superior offense, mostly from the Boston TEa party. Having 2 very athletic tight ends was unusual, and difficult for most teams to deal with.
The Giants were pretty average during the season, but still good. Had a lot of injuries. When they all got healthy, they never lost another game.
Their defense was an absolute beast once they got healthy. That NFC championship game was a throwback to the NFL games of old where every yard was crucial. All defense, games built on critical mistakes. The NFL has a huge history of epic games just like that one was. It was nice to see. And the fact that the Giants made it through a brutal game like that really says a lot about them.
Eli had already been fantastic, has been for years, and has 2 of the best receivers in the league, one of which was a surprise, to go along with their defense that was getting healthy and very nasty. That culminated with a SB win against a strong team.
Say what you want about the Pats D, they were getting much better throughout the playoffs. So the 2 best teams really did make it, and fought it out to the end.
If that was not enough for you in an NFL season, seriously, go watch golf or something because it really doesnt get any better. Watching that game was awesome last night. 2 very evenly matched teams battling it out once again, and of course it came down to the last minute. If you cant appreciate that then you just dont need to be watching this sport.
