Is it possible to access an afp:// remotely?
What program do you use?

For mounting a remote drive using AFP you just use 'Go > Connect to Server' using the remote IP address (or a DynDNS domain that points to your IP), and on the remote network make sure File Sharing is turned on, and that you have set port forwarding to the correct computer).
LogMeIn is the best for remote control. because of the status lists and Wake-Up functions and stuff (although OSX Screen Sharing also works fine for most things).

You shouldn't need a program, just make sure your router is exposing the correct ports to the outside world.
Then just connect to the IP or look into dyndns if you have a dynamic IP

- not literally the word "strong"animatedgif

I've always accessed my work-server environment from home over VPN. Then it's just like connecting from my office (only data transfer is a bit slower).
