I gots me an iPad 2 and I'm looking to watch stuff on a bigger screen. Any thoughts on whether I should pay $40 for an AV Adapter or just pick up Apple TV for $60 more?

Just pick up the apple tv this way you can also stream your movies and music threw the tv

I love my Apple TV.... when it works. Always drops my library, I have to unplug/re-plug it about once or twice a week... quit itunes and restart about once every 2 days.
Looking online there are many similar problems. Seems like Apple pulled a shoddy job on this one.
With that said, I still like it more than a TV adapter for the wireless aspect.

Airplay (on Apple TV) is the shit assuming your network is flawless & you have a stable/functional iTunes environment running (home sharing, etc.)...
I ran an Airport Express, which was sublime as I could always stream to my receiver but of course you'd be only limited to audio in that case...
Apple TV is still limited to 720p, which is it's only downfall...

@jfletcher
On your Mac (I'm assuming), go to Energy Saver in System Preferences and check "Wake for network access." I found that it keeps your computer and your Apple TV in sync so that your Mac doesn't go to sleep and drop your library. Let me know if it works for you.

I'd go apple TV as well. I have one and also installed firecores atvflash so I could have more options and view all movie types: http://firecore.com/atvflash-bla…
