there's just one question and it's to you. 'Can I stand being in this persons presence for 8-10 hours a day?'

I like to put em on the spot, refer to what they first offer up as "talking points" - try to get them to break the script. Not in an evil way mind you, just, get them to drop their guard and you will know real quick if it's a good fit or not ;)

Had an interview today with a possible design intern candidate. She showed off her work, which wasn't bad for a college student with a year and a half left.
She had a nice hand-painted chocolate bar redesign piece, which was completely hand painted from digital type. The concept was nice, because her teacher's brief was to make the concept based off of Miami (use of juxtaposition). The piece was based off of this building:
Had some nice details, but when asked about the name of the architect, she did not know. Also, she could not tell me the name of the fonts she used in the label, which were Trajan and Helvetica. I am pretty disappointed, but gave her a bit of slack for being young still. I *tsk, tsk*'d her a couple of times.- That building is by Chad Oppenheim, which is located in Miami.********
- Not knowing the fonts was inexcusable, but the name of the architect wouldn't affect the concept, would it?Amicus
