Billings here too. But I still typeset my own invoices in InDesign because I'm a complete tool, and because the invoice creation tools in Billings are terrible. I mainly use Billings for workflow, project organization, and time tracking.

Studiometry handles everything from lead tracking/project coordination/time tracking through to invoicing. worth the $200 I'd say.
http://www.oranged.net/studiomet…If I was running my own show I'd be using it.

I use Harvest & Quickbooks. Harvest has all the data recorded/organized that I need/want then it can export what the accountant needs for Quickbooks. Everyone is happy.
Anyone still saying use Excel.. .use Illy... use InDesign either is not very busy or really has no idea how much time they are wasting trying to run a business that way.- I am not saying you should use Harvest, but many of the competitors will also give you the same benefits.ETM
- i like excel. i find it if you know how to set up the formula everything is really quick and simple.pango
- I need the time tracking and reports, especially when I have contractors working for me.ETM

Quickbooks if you have a bookkeeper, otherwise it can be a pain sometimes. But keeping track of invoices, accounts, etc., all in one place is a great feature (and generating reports, like profits/losses/expenses/etc. is a great).

Moved to this after Cashboard & Freshbooks. Never turning back.

If you want one that helps with project management and time tracking but does invoicing as well then Project Bubble is great for small teams and freelancers (it's simple and easy to use too):
http://projectbubble.comIf you want really simple and free invoicing then use:

Ronin. Used this online app from Freelance to having a small studio. Works perfectly. http://www.roninapp.com/?ref=b2g…

I use Profit Train, but a lot of them are similar.

Web-based but really simple and the rendered documents look pretty good.

I tried billings a while back. I guess it will do fine for you if you don't want to customize the invoice. I tried to customize one and it was the most frustrating day of my life.
Found "On the Job" and it is like Billings but the workflow is a lot better/cleaner. also laying out your own invoice isn't as frustrating as billings
I think both are pretty good
- Thanks for your review. I definitely want to customize (and localize) the temps.doctor

Didn't see this mentioned yet so I'll throw my 2 cents in. I've been using this for about a year and it's been great so far. I probably only use a third of the features, but the invoicing is really simple and well done.

On The Job... That looks okay.
Something that can control trivial stuff like invoice number, date, calculate total costs, VAT etc. so I won't mess it up. :)

On The Job is what I use. Time tracking and invoicing all in one. Bitchin' icon too. http://stuntsoftware.com/onthejo…

Thanks for the suggestions.
The issue is not to make invoices that look good and professional. My need is more about administrating and possibly automating tasks related to invoicing.
I heard good things about Billings too. It just looks a little too advanced for my needs, but if it's still easy to use, then I don't see any problem.
