any of you homeowners pick this up yet? The videos looked so CG and faked I thought it was still in development but I guess it's out and all the reviews are excellent. The only downside is it's 4xs as much as the last thermostat I just bought a few years ago.

Some of the comments from the blog posts are highly disparaging.

"I just wish my Nest worked. It starts the furnace half the time, but the other half the furnace stops early in the start-sequence. Spent countless hours with Nest Support, but still no go with myNest. Two other thermostats seem to work fine."
"Now all I need is for you guys to figure out why my Nest won't recognize the O/B circuit on my new geothermal system being driven by a Honeywell TH5000 thermostat."
- very few reviews like this, I read mostly positive ones.fooler

I'll admit I was one of the many that spent $$ for this thing. Looks great on the wall. :) Like that I can access it via wifi. If I'm in the basement and want to turn it down, I can be super lazy and get on my phone and laptop and adjust the temperature. I feel about 20lbs heavier. :)

That is pretty cool.

I'm just curious to see how you nest owners rate it after using it for a while? Do you really notice a savings in heater bills like it claims?

I have it for 3 months. It's the best $200 I ever spent. In addition to convenience, it does save energy. My bills are lower compared to last year.
The best part I can adjust temperature from this browser without getting up. Also, in the morning if it's a little chilly I use my phone to adjust temperature before I get up from my bed.
"Away" feature can be set from my phone after I leave my house. Or you can bump the temperature up before you arrive home.
Report how much energy was used during each month is sent to your mailbox. Or you can access it on your dashboard.
I would love to see more gadgets like this in the future, so I can automate my house from temperature to feeding the fish

If my thermostat was on display and not in the hallway where no one goes, I would get one. My $40.00 programmable thermo from Lowes does just fine though. Definitely saw my utility bills go down after installing it 3 years ago.
If I was a little chilly in bed and needed to change the temp before I got out, I'd punch myself for being a puss. ( :
- Did the same thing. $50 bought me a nice looking programmable thermostat. Eat it Nest.d_rek

I finally got one after a few months of being back ordered and after 3 days I've received 3 error codes. It's wired exactly like my old thermostat but it continues to say it has no power about every 24 hours. So far it's not worth the hassle but it sure looks pretty on my wall.
- Run it on a high AH backup, if it continues to fault it'll likely be either connection issues or defective.ZOOP

Although the design and UI is absolutely stunning, Nest will not be able to penetrate and make gains in the marketplace unless it is priced under the $99- price point.
