man - i remember learning and preforming this for the first time when i was about 6 at school. i felt like i was the size of the hulk- now i've got kids, and watching the games my kids are asking me to teach them, but i just feel like a silly white guy around the world from home...

^ Haha!
Admittedly, though, it looks far more intimidating when with a group of strapping lads with biceps the size of cannonballs.
All alone, you probably look like you're attempting line dancing. :P
- my wife joins in- but then i have to tell her that women aren't allowed and then she throws things at mebjladams
- I thought woman can perform the Haka? Or so I've read. Maybe just not this 'rugby' Hakagoldieboy
- there are some that they preform too- doesn't bother me, but the kids like seeing her throw things at me :-)
bjladams - haha... I bet the kids love itgoldieboy

"I bloody love the Haka. Best thing in Rugby!"
I agree. It's awesome.
And it used to be a lot more aggressive. It's been toned down a lot.
They used to cross the centerline into the opponents territory, and they'd stood their ground and it got physical often.- God, I'd so love to see some hand-egg players try to have a go at the All Blacks ... the ABs would roger them.Continuity

In my experience Australia is one of the most racist countries ever been to. At least we embrace our nation culture on an international stage. P.C madness alright, worry more about the rase riots you had a few years back than a little cut throat history reference. I think this is sour grapes as we destroyed you last weekend.

- shit i should really read it first, Man i'm a shit typistclimbatree
- yes, there are racists in Oz, and some nationalities have brought problems with them, but most Aussies are pretty easy going.Amicus

It looks pretty cool, and I think if every team had their own version it would be better received. Sports have always been drenched in masculine, tribal, war-like rituals. It's debatable whether or not the same practices should be used today as a spectacle. If it stays inside of that one environment, it would be more acceptable. But usually it seeps into the rest of society somehow.
- If every team had their own one? No thanks. It's not cheerleading, it's an ancient Maori ritual.Mulatu
- Nah, leave it to the All Blacks. Wouldn't work if every team had a pre-game ritualgoldieboy
- Then it does become weird, especially if it's only one race doing it. People are going to have valid points against it.Jaline

Only white people are allowed to whitewash their violent past! I'm outraged at this news! Go back to Polynesia! Maoris are taking our jobs! Et cetera!
