With all the recent praise and admiration for Steve Jobs, as well as Godlike and celebrity status that has been given to Mr. Jobs, it was only a matter of time that someone published an article that showed the darkside of Steve Jobs.
- None of that article is new information, though.Continuity

What a bunch of sour cunts.
No one ever said Jobs was a saint.
This page-hit-commerce, contrarian journalism needs to take a fucking break.- You're right, noone said he was a saint, but few talk about how he really was at Apple.CygnusZero4

Before he was deposed from Apple the first time around, Jobs already had a reputation internally for acting like a tyrant. Jobs regularly belittled people, swore at them, and pressured them until they reached their breaking point

Apple's success has been built literally on the backs of Chinese workers, many of them children and all of them enduring long shifts and the specter of brutal penalties for mistakes. And, for all his talk of enabling individual expression, Jobs imposed paranoid rules that centralized control of who could say what on his devices and in his company.
- I know people that worked there. Apple hires spies to try to get their employees to talk, and also spy.instrmntl

everybody's success has been built on the back of chinese workers

I really wish these outlets wouldn't use the frail photos of Jobs. While I am not canonizing him with testimonials, I do find it a bit tasteless. I don't know.

Sounds like the same Steve Jobs I have always heard about.
- Nobody gets rich for being nice, I mean look at the quote Jobs used. "Good artists borrow, great artist steal."kgvs72
- Quote from one of his favorite bands, U2, "Every poet is a thief".CygnusZero4
- This was "appropriated" by Bono from another Irishman - Oscar Wilde (kind of an in-joke)Centigrade

Also, Gawker is just mad still about getting raided over at Gizmodo.

I remember some interview many years ago with a guy that used to work closely with Jobs, and he said he would regularly call people 'incompetent' over mistakes that most would consider very minor.
If someone mentioned an idea that he didnt like, he would shake his head like an arrogant ass and look at the walls and shit while they were telling him about these ideas he did not like.
All this stuff has been known about him and public for a long time, but the thing is, the positive things he's done seem to overshadow how much of a dick he was to nice people.

Did anyone mention yet,
that he was an Aaa-Rab??
never fogit,

Look, Steve Jobs was good at making tech products. No one is calling him a messiah or a prototype for the perfect world leader or designer.
Plus - Tim Cook was the one in charge of the product line manufacturing process, if I am not mistaken.
- dMullins0
I really don't hate on him for this stuff everyone's talking about. When you're bleeding the edge, there's no margin for fucking up. You have to separate the wheat from the chaff.

...but people are calling him the messiah and a perfect world leader AND a designer though. He was eulogized and idealised ad nauseam before and after his death. I seriously think Apple fans are like religious fanatics sometimes, I've heard that comparison before and thought it was a hyperbole but recent days have proved it.

I think you may just be feeling vindictive of the fact that the world lost a proven world-class innovator. One who did it not once with the Apple 1, not twice with the Apple Mac but 5x with the ipod, iphone and ipad.
Those guys don't come around many times.
- jon_d0
But yeah he was a dick. And I probably could not have worked for him either.
- jon_d0
But maybe I could.
- eieio0
Also he gets way too much credit for Pixar. Pixar needed a cash infusion to keep going and Jobs came along at the right time. He saw the potential and ponied up the dough but Pixar did their own thing. It doesn't take a visionary to see that Pixar were doing some cool things but it does take a millionair tech mogel to keep it in business.
- Sometimes it's luck and specially coming in to the right place at the right time.kgvs72

jon_d give it up,
we don't need another apple apologist whom in 5 post will be insulting the other and taking it personally, nobody really cares if he was a dick or not,
we're all just mad that he's gone so soon and we can't focus or hate on anyone else ("yet")goddamm bill gates and his philanthropy bs!! can't hate him no more
- jon_d0
Im just mad at the people that put the man down just to hate on the fact that the trendies and media are celebrating him. But fine if your MO is too humanize a legend then so be it.
