I can't say I like him considering he tried to eradicate my means of income, but at least Gawker could have waited til his corpse was cold. It's really in bad form.

well Gawker isn't the most trusted news source ever. However I understand the guy was probably an ass. I can really relate with the lack of empathy thing. My father and I really just weren't born with it. and before you jump on this train NO I'm not a mac fanboy. I owned and 2 generation old iPhone for 1 winter.
Brian, the guy behind the whole Gizmodo thing had this to say about Steve Jobs during the whole fiasco.

fuck it... i'll take a Zune anytime anyways

I'm not going to apologize for Steve Job's worse behavior, because I think he went a little too far at times. But I will say that after having been in business for 17 years, being nice has mostly gotten me a bunch of mediocre shit. To produce the kind of successes he has you are more than likely going to step on a few people's toes. And I don't think he should get full blame for the conditions at the Chinese manufacturing facility. Many hardware companies use the same company to manufacture their products. I doubt they knew what the conditions were when they made the decision to use the facility. It would be nice if they worked towards changing them.
I'm not an Apple apologist. I've owned 28 macs and a few really really sucked (mostly early laptops) and Apple has had a history of not treating their customers well. I cant knock the guy, though.

people being pretty liberal with the term "innovator"

sounded more like a bitter rant. there's no problem with lauding him as a genious, visionary, and asshole all in the same breath, but only mentioning the latter leaves them sounding jilted.

they redeemed with xp only after feeling the pressure of OSX
the direction of microsofts monopoly was firmly dictated with ME and Internet Explorer at the time.

But regardless, it doesn't really matter.
Every point of view being expressed is inevitable now.
Even if they didn't believe it, they would still write it because the "anti Steve Jobs" article will garner x number of hits and x number of Adwords payments. This thread is only helping.

mehh the guy is dead.
don't care.

I thought it was common knowledge that he was basically a nasty asshole. Micromanaged everything, total control freak, didnt trust anyone, created very strange rules at Apple, was down right mean to people to force his way on them.
Honestly though, many of the greatest minds were like this.
- Basically a dictator that never had any political power. But if he did.... scary.CygnusZero4

because everyone had to respect the 48 hours respect deadline,
not many people knew him, except the quote the apple PR department allowed news channels to publish,as of foxcon, pretty much every kind of electronics, for various companies are produced there, it stuck on apple, because everyone hate their smug user base and wanted to make something awful stick to them, slave labor is good for now,
the whole article read like a mashup of other articles which were mashups of PR lines, nothing new there..

I said it on twitter yesterday...but I like the part where he cursed at people. Also, the MobileMe shit is awesome.

I heard that he spat at children and once superglued an underling's lips to their desk for talking without his permission.

The Good.
He had a sense of morality and would not let his phones be used for propaganda, porn and other questionable information that less then 5% of the population support. For example Vogue has pushed the sexuality of children. We wont even get into the 'other' argument of the glitter fairies. (both that destroy family values.) However GAWKER calls this censorship and authoritarian...Of course GAWKER calls that authoritarian, their goal is to support a moral-less society which is working out fantastic by the way. (this is really the basis of GAWKERS argument.)
Heaven forbid employees steal and release your technology to the competitors and or bloggers. This is a private corporation, they can search employee phones and computers for leakers. A tech company would have much higher security vs a cookie shop. But even KFC kept their receipe in a secret safe along with coca cola. If these employees gave the tech or information to outside personell then they're in fact guilty of transporting corporate secrets. Funny how people aren't upset the govt does this and actually uses murder to silence opinion or unions. hehe
<sarcasm on>
I mean we have people that actually want to uphold law and hold people accountable for illegal activity. Unbelievable! We have a corporation that wants to protect its product from spies and technology leaks. Unbelievable.
<sarcasm off>The bad.
China. enough said.Conclusion.
Ryan from the GAWKER reminds me of this guy. If you haven't seen this its pretty spectucular. Especially the end where he actually wants to sell his product. OIH!

Is Gawker who owns Gizmodo just pissed at apple because they got banned from keynote because bought lost / stolen phone and published it?
