so judging by the last few comments... what? these fans should just go home? people who worked with him should keep their positive mouths shut?
If it's pissing you off, stop reading said articles. Better yet, go read some internet forums as the large majority of the web hate on Apple if you haven't notice already...
- I never said that, I just said it was hypocrital to tell other to keep this thread clean and a homage like he deserved a special treatmentGeorgesII
- treatment, because you know he was a "genius", I should be able to criticize anyone, anywhere if I want too,GeorgesII
- just because you should have the right doesn't make it right.bogue

Anyone who thinks Apple was/is a cult has lost their grip. Period.

^ Here you go.. read a little
http://www.wired.com/gadgets/mac…
In the 1980s, Jobs hired Guy Kawasaki who's only task was to create Mac cult. He even admits it in his book "Enchantment".
But that Wired article really speaks A LOT about how and why Apple is a cult based consumer brand.
Also very interesting article
http://www.verilliance.com/2010/…You can deny it, you can refuse to believe it, but Apple deliberately creates this type of brand perception through marketing and everything they do. It is very natural that members of cult will never admit they are in it. So shockingly denial is the first thing you go through.
This in fact causes a completely different mindset among consumers that actually start perceiving Apple's products as superior even though they are many times not.
This is known in business and marketing psychology as effect of perceived brand origin associations on consumer perceptions of quality. It is one of the things you study when you go to school for business/marketing.
- lol, it's just marketing and stuff, everyone does itmonospaced
- you act as if Apple was the only one doing this and that's just naive. their products are also good, remember?monospaced
- none of it would be an issue if they didn't create religious like zealots out of users.monolith

Lets be real monolith. EVERY modern brand hopes to create millions of loyal cult-like followers. Buy my shitty product not because it's better, but because of some intangible ideology I've sold you.
- Nerds care because Apple make computers and phones. You don't see these guys ranting on about a Nike cult...inteliboy
- Are you kidding? Nike has a huge cult of sneaker collectors and people who line up for hours to get a pair of new kicks.NegativeSpace

That is true.. what's annoying is the justification behind it. It's bad as a whole but reality is that Jobs himself dabbled in religious undertones and manipulation of individuals. That's why he was extremely successful. Just because he managed to create that cult doesn't mean it's great nor that I would approve of anyone else doing it.
- it is also saying a lot about business practices as a whole.monolith
- All you can blame Steve of is running a successful business on his own terms. He wasn't a cult leader by any means.monospaced

monolith = boz?
- who is this Boz you keep whining about.. I assume he doesn't like Apple so you get all your panties in a bunch. Reality is a lot of people dislike Apple or Jobs way and there is perfectly understandable reason for it. I personally don't. I just say things as they are.monolith

- boz was obsessed with this idea of an apple cult... it's like he'd never followed a sport before. or been to a concert. or watched oprah. etc.inteliboy
- etc.inteliboy
- Mac cult is not a unique idea fella. It is actually very real one with deep roots in marketing psychology.monolith
- It's not an original idea eithermonolith
- Never said it was... it's far from original. Not sure what you point is actually.inteliboy
- has to be, registered in 2011, shady bio and details, must be him, in any case a trollernexbcn

I find utterly disgusting that some of you can have a problem with the notion of people morning the death of someone. And not only that, but to also walk into a place where people are mourning the guy and bring your shitty links and witty remarks about whatever this person did or whatever his company is or even about whatever you think about people that miss guy or buy their products.
Show some fucking respect, if you want to rant about the guy you are free to open a new topic on it, but try to have the decency not trolling this one.

- I'm not going as far as carrying and iPad with a candle to an Apple Store but I'll miss Steveernexbcn
- emex, is that exclusively for someone YOU like, oppose to someone else. Say...

@monolith get a grip about your retarded trolling? sure no problem, keep it coming.
- GeorgesII0
this is a free open forum,
nobody asked you not to mourn, but if you want to do it, do it on your own and don't try to tell other what they should or should not do,if you still want to have a close discussion because you can't accept that others don't have the same issues or you believe we're disrespecting someone none of us actually knew, except for the very few public tidbits,
there's always yahoo_ray..

The thread is called RIP Steve Jobs, not "Diss Steve Jobs and whoever misses him".
Feel free though to use it as you wish, but I think it's disrespectful to take your issues with the guy on this thread and trying to insult people who liked the guy or what the guy did.
- obsolete0
come on. lets be a bit realistic here
how can you really morn someone you don't know...???
it's a bit like the leave britney alone guy in youtube...I think its ok to say that jobs changed the way we percive tecnhology, but he wasn't a saint...
had its flaws like everyone else...like someone said he created nice machines, not a cure for Aids or world hunger... thats something that
just my 2 cens
- I mourned for the people who leapt from the towers on 9/11monospaced
- mourning steve is nothing like the leave britney alone thing and you know itmonospaced
- jesus.. people on 9/11 were killed and had to leap into their deaths if they didn't want to burn.. comparing that to Jobs is like.. I don't know..stupid?monolith
- like.. I don't know..stupid?monolith
- 9/11 its a whole diferent thing....obsolete
- yea... but youre saying how can you morn someone you dont know. lolsofakingbanned

I find it disgusting that death scrubs the record clean for some people and automatically elevates them to hero.
This thread is called Rest In Peace Steve Jobs, not Steve Jobs Did No Wrong And You're Immoral If You Say Otherwise. As far as I've seen, nobody posting the shady side of his life is cheering his death, condemning him to hell, or anything of the sort.
And saying he changed how we perceive technology is incredibly naïve. Sony paved that road with the Walkman, Jobs just gave it a glossy white coating two decades later. But, again, nobody is denying Apple's impact on branding, graphic and product design, but get a grip.
- sofakingbanned0
I agree with some of your logic and disagree with others... you sound like you're hating though... in a thread to respect a deceased person no less.

like peasants throwing bread crumbs at a king's fortress

If we all 'get a grip' everything will be ok.
