How do, so I'm curious as I'm gonna be spending a few weeks in London (B&B in Hamstead Heath) where's good for a few pints in a slightly bohemian setting. Not that I mind having a chat to a local random or two but I tend to attract the nut jobs. So where's a safe bet?

The Holly Bush is a safe bet if you want bohemian (if by bohemian you mean 60 year old lesbian fiction writers with lipstick on their teeth).

the flask just across the heath on top of highgate west hill isn't overly boho, but is a decent boozer.

Lock Tavern in Camden - great place and not too far from you.
Not all that bohemian but cool and they do a great Sunday Roast.

- is the hawley arms any cop these days - used to be a great place, but I think it's gone touristy...hans_glib
- Whole of Camden has gone touristy. The Lock Tavern survived better as its that bit too far for 'em
Gordy22 - Since the Camden fire, the Hawley Arms has gone down hill big time. It's still busy but not the samegoldieboy

The Bull & Last at the bottom of Parliament Hill, amazing Sunday Lunch, but you have to book for a table. The rest of the week it's just a good pub with brilliant home made scotch eggs.
Also, if you're in Hampstead, go to the Everyman Cinema one evening, it's really nice.

- Albeit far from Hampstead. But it's on the Thames.neandersthal

The Boogaloo or whatever it is/was called near Highgate tube used to be OK, if a bit pretentious. Occaisionally frequented by semi-famous musicians and comedians.
- That was my local when it was The Shepherds. They did brevil toasties.Wolfboy
- Mine too.Fax_Benson

Just down the road from Hampstead:
The Washington on Englands Lane. Nice boozer and good food.

Take a walk down Gloucester Av too. You have 3 good pubs down there: The Pembroke, The Lansdowne and The Engineer. All 3 just around the corner from Primrose Hill and Village... a nice part of London indeed.- The Lansdowne is the most bohemian out of the 3.goldieboy

Cheers chaps! I'm not fussed about the near hampstead bit. Just looking for good boozers with chilled crowd. So anywhere in Londonshire will do. That Gordons sounds ace!

Within visiting distance of Hampstead - the Southampton Arms in Highgate, the Swimmer in Holloway & the Pineapple in Kentish Town are worth a look. If you must go to Camden I'd try the Constitution or the Camden Head, but I'd avoid the area on the whole; very rarely does anything good come from a visit there.
Tbh, there's loads wherever you go, get off the beaten track and explore.

In Kentish Town, just down the road from Hampstead is the Southampton Arms. Vast range of ales/bitters & ciders and scotch eggs the size of footballs. Nice black labrador and a piano too.
One of the best pubs in London.

That said all of the above are good...
We're good at them generally, 7000 of them in London alone.
Oh the princess Louise is great and the local for central st martins...

Princess Louise is one of the greatest I've been to.
