Great movie. Cinematography, lighting and music were fantastic.
I kept thinking about Blade Runner and Twin Peaks, how those movies kinda slowed time down, added surreal music/lighting, to create memorable connections between characters (and the audience).
Loved it.
Anyone have thoughts on how he didn't ever sleep and survived the knife wound?

People either really love this movie or really hate it.

Rented this last night. I really loved the homage to '80s cool with the music/montage fade-through cuts between scenes when he's driving. This extends into the rest of the film, from the typography to the clothing, cars and even environment. It was nothing near True Romance when it comes to cinematography, dialogue, LA glam or style, but it's close. Even the violence didn't make as much sense here. The soundtrack was the tits though and overall I loved it. Unfortunately it's not a watch-again type of film.

4 1/2 stars, cinematography was awesome, soundtrack was awesome, style was awesome, story was ok but didn't need to be much more because of the style... vauge / kubric style.
my only hang up is this... it needed at least one more crazy driving scene.. really there's only one and it wasn't that crazy.
Also they coulda done better on the car selection... i get that he's using random inconspicuous cars but still.
if it had that it would have been pretty damn perfect.

But, but... you don't get it... because the driving scenes were just bridges between intense character studies...
You know. Characters who wear fluffy jackets covered in blood in broad daylight chewing and offering toothpicks to 4 year olds.

- at least in this film you care more about the characters and the violence is more justifiedmonospaced

- I don't see much similarity. But then again haven't seen True Romance since I was a teenager:)ukit2

loved it. kind of glad there wasn't gratuitous driving scenes, because it was more about the quiet driving moments, really. turned the car into a temple, was kind of spiritual. imo.

very stylized and handled in an unusual way. I liked that I didn't know what was going to happen in the next scene in an action/thriller.

Sorry there wasn't a Lawsuit of the Day - thread. Or not one I could find anyway.
