Saw the trailer and it didn't appeal to me at all but have a friend who saw it last night and said it was fucking brilliant

Saw this on Sunday. The cinematography was pretty solid, but the story itself, and the level of "acting" really let me down. I walked away from this one getting much less than I expected. The film noir/gore angle was interesting I guess, but more of the same, IMO.
This is why I don't watch trailers, so I don't have any expectations... I'll stick to my guns next time.

Great movie. Cinematography, lighting and music were fantastic.
I kept thinking about Blade Runner and Twin Peaks, how those movies kinda slowed time down, added surreal music/lighting, to create memorable connections between characters (and the audience).
Loved it.
Anyone have thoughts on how he didn't ever sleep and survived the knife wound?

Looks like Nicolas Winding Refn and Ryan Gosling are making more movies together, including remake of Logan's Run

Sorry there wasn't a Lawsuit of the Day - thread. Or not one I could find anyway.

^ Bahaha some of the comments on that page are brilliant.

Just watched it last night. Loved it. It was one of those films that after watching makes me think 'I should go to the cinema more often'.
Beautifully shot, great acting and the contrast between the gentle, golden hued, slow motion shots and the ferocity of the violence, especially in the elevator scene, was amazing.

I was a tad disappointed. It is a good film, don't get me wrong, but not really one that deserves its own thread.
Cliche characters and story, a script calling for Joe Tribbiani school of acting (like, create depth by not saying anything).
There was a better film to be made from that mix of Ghost Dog and Lost Highway, with bits of Bullit thrown in.
The film relies largely on those little aesthetic clever shocking moments—too bad you've seen most of them in the trailers.

Saw it, liked it. Worth the watch.

Good shit.
Not your run-of-the-mill action thriller.

It reminded me most of Lost Highway by Lynch. The same film noir feel, and stilted dialog.

Everything was solid, but the ending.. was a bit of a let down

I liked the ending....he did what he had to do. Drive.
- Why would he turn his back to Albert Brooks?.. It just didn't make sense. Based on how careful he was throughout the movieRamanisky2
